Engine Looking for advice on a cobra swap into a gt

If it is an original 97 cobra engine - that would be a teksid aluminum block.... if you have the money and patience it is a great way to get the best / lightest 4.6 block. Your Ecu and the wiring harness (minor mods) will work. here is a list of things to get started on: New gaskets Exhaust is...

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

I had them do all the welding work at once. Much cheaper “in bulk”

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

My welder didn't like the flange on the pipe I gave him so he fashioned his own custom flange on to a 3” pipe. Pipe size doesn’t matter, work with a quality welder and making a flange for your BOV is “no big deal”. :hail:

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

Ngk 4177 tr6 copper plugs work great. They are one step cooler and a great price. I replace them every 2 years / 15k miles or so (I daily drive my car - that is why my engine bay is a little dirty haha!). I gap them at ~0.035 which is pretty much the gap they measure at coming right out of...

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

Just bent the power steering lines. Found it easier that way. Sounds like an easy way to do your piping. :nice: Dilemma with boost is that you don’t want to pressurize your crankcase. The direct connection from the valve cover to the intake has to go. Most popular options are: 1) vent it...

Car sagging on drivers side front

Assuming there is no prior body damage - I’d check that the tire pressure / wheels are exactly the same, that there is no weight in the passenger compartment / truck that would affect the ride height, and then I would park and measure in a different parking spot that was level. If the simple...

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

Got multiple polished aluminum 3” pipes in 90 degrees (5), 45 degrees (5), and straight (4) (used this as an example of which pipes: http://www.jpcracing.com/jpc-1996-2004-mustang-gt-intercooler-piping-kit/). Got help from a performance shop for fitting and welding (I can’t weld nearly as nice...

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

Custom tune is definitely the way to go. Worst case if your tuner can’t give you a baseline tune to hobble in - you can always tow it. I have a tial 50mm BOV, it’s really loud . The BOV is on the driver side right before the intercooler (pre MAF for my blow thru setup). Definitely make...

Advice for upcoming supercharged New Edge build

47 lbs is a good size. Gives you upgrade room in case you get forged internals down the road but isn’t excessive. Good to 500 ish rwhp on stock fuel pressure. I am at 90% duty cycle at the peak of my powerband with a 290lph pump. My Walbro was true drop in / plug and play. 340lph drop in...

02 v6 mustang wanting to add power or swap

If your goal is power with the 3.8, the best way to make a custom turbo kit. Not a ton of people do this because there are so many V8 mustangs out there - it is easier with a V8.

Fender mounted CAI YAY or NAY?

I’ve always put my filter in the fender. Putting the filter in the engine compartment will always warm up the air to some extent. Anything that gets you the coldest air possible is always to your advantage - that’s why I bought a huge three row intercooler, it’s why people use meth, and it’s...

2003 gt Wheel and tire help

With a mild 1” drop from ford c springs (with isolators) I don’t have any rub in the front with 275/40/17s. Any further drop and I definitely could see how you could get some rub.

    Plenum and throttlebody

You will get a mild bump in performance - no tune needed. If you have free tunes you could squeeze maybe a smidge more horsepower (single digit) with an new tune but it isn’t critical to tune it.

    Is it worth it

Non-PI (NPI) SOHC engines have an 11-cc dish along with a 51-cc combustion chamber. The PI head has a smaller 42-cc chamber and a deeper 18-cc dish. Matching a set of PI heads with NPI pistons is a recipe for a much higher compression ratio. This is why the trickflow heads come in two sizes -...

    Best upgrade?

Best upgrade is to perform all the required maintenance and get it in great shape. After that the best upgrade depends on your goals. If the plan is to add power- the v6 doesn’t have much potential without a power adder (I’d go with a turbo or v8 swap) - I’d skip most of the v6 boltons for...

    Questions about seats

I have FX1 pro corbeau seats and their manual rack. Fixed the SN95 silly seating position and SN95 sloppy lateral support. Shaved a couple pounds vs. my leather power seats. Easy install. I daily drive in these seats and have done road trips with no problems. I like to sit upright, like to...

    Rear end/Tire/Suspension noise?

https://www.americanmuscle.com/lsd.html Personally I took my mustang to a trusted mechanic for the rear end. They confirm the rear was the issue, while the pumpkin was open I upgraded to a Torsen rear dif, 31 spline axles, and upgraded to a steeda differential cover. You can do it for much...

    Rear end/Tire/Suspension noise?

With every rotation it has to be something that is spinning. Most likely one of these three: 1) bald spot on a tire / other tire issue 2) brake caliper or brake pad contact issue 3) rear diff After you rule out #1 and #2- probably the rear diff needs a rebuild.
