Who makes the best winter tires for ponys?

The best performance winter tire is the Micheline X-Ice Xi2. This tire is the #1 rated winter performance tire and has won head to head comparisons with all of the other performance Winter tires. I have a set of these for my 2005 Mustang GT. They work extremely well and I have driven/rode in...

    1/4 mile predictions for 2010

I don't like to magazine race, but the tests done so far on the 2010 Mustang GT and comparing them to the tests done on the 2005 Mustang GT. The 2005 Mustang GT is slightly faster...

Sources Say Coyote is a Go

It is not a completely new engine program. The Coyote engine program is a derivative of the modular engine program. The new engines will have direct injection and they will have a different Bore/Stroke ratio compared to any of the current modular engines. The easiest/best way to describe...

PI Swap Question. Yes, I Searched.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. The PI Intake swap is not as easy as a 96+ TBird or Mustang either. I looked into this swap a bit more because I knew there was parts I was forgetting that he needs. Simply put, the only reusable parts from his 95 4.6L are the fuel injectors, intake...

PI Swap Question. Yes, I Searched.

He needs a lot more than that for the TBird. To be honest for the hassle of the PI headswap on a 94 - 95 TBird, he is better off looking for a complete PI engine. I don't recall everything he is going to need but for starters. 96 - 97 Thunderbird upper intake or aftermarket; 96 - 97...

    4.6 to 5.4

The Cobra R had the same bore/stroke as any other 5.4L. It was built with special parts though. They have the best flowing 4V heads Ford ever offered and those heads are extremely difficult to find. The intake manifold is extremely rare as well.

    4.6 to 5.4

The thing is people have tried to make a performance N/A 5.4L 2V. Their best efforts last time I checked was at 296 RWHP in a 5 Spd Mustang. The closest 4.6L Mustang I know with similar mods is at 346 RWHP which also happens to be with a 4R70W auto transmission. The 5.4 3V attempts are a...

    4.6 to 5.4

You build a 4.6L the same way( light weight parts ) as you build a 5.4L, use the same heads, same parts, at the end of the day, the 4.6L will be the better performance engine. There is NO 2V or 3V head available that will correct that airflow problem for the 5.4, including Trick Flow's new 2V...

    4.6 to 5.4

You are completely 100% Wrong. I am tired of arguing this and proving it. The old pushrod engine is completely different. The Pushrod engine favours the Bore and has over a 4" Bore diameter. The old 5.0 for example was a 4" Bore to 3" stroke. The 4.6 shows slight favour to the Bore( 3.55"...

    4.6 to 5.4

    Fact: In 2V trim, 4.6 > 5.4. In N/A 3V trim, 4.6 > 5.4. Those are facts...

NTO - New Take Off questions

Locally, there is literally zero 05+ wheels for sale. I have been looking since March. The only ones available are Factory take offs at one of the local dealerships. They are pricey and the parts manager won't deal on the price. I understand wheels are pricey to ship, however as I said...

    1/4 mile predictions for 2010

I took a 2010 Mustang GT to the scale I weighed my 2005 Mustang GT at. Comparing it to my stock full weight Mustang GT, the new car is 84lbs heavier and that was with roughly half a tank of gas. Having driven both, I get the feeling that the older GT will be slightly faster.

    Cams are beeing installed...

How is he installling the cams? I like the specs of these cams for PI heads, what I am not liking is that some are having PTV issues with them. I really hope he checks the PTV clearance before starting the car.

NTO - New Take Off questions

Good day, My first set of questions: Has anybody dealt with NTO( OEM Parts & OEM Wheels - Original Equipment Parts from NewTakeOff )? What were your experiences like? Anybody from Canada? I am looking for a set of 17x8 Bullitt rims for my 2005 GT for it's winter tires. I was looking...

    2v crank - how tough?

Some facts to consider: 1) Forged Crank = More weight = Less HP than the Cast Crank. 2) The fastest N/A 2V cars run Cast Cranks, both KenB's N/A 2V and FastestN/A2V ran the stock cast crank. 3) 750 RWHP has been done on the Cast Cranks without issues. 4) 8000 RPM has been done on the...

    Build will be done!!!

Who installed the cams? Ensure that they check PTV clearances before they start the car. There is about a half dozen Hi-Tech Stg 2 cammed cars that have had PTV contact...

    cams

I have personally talked to TrickFlow, the current TF Cams are for PI Heads, they are working on cams for their new TF head. The cams will work without valve reliefs cut into the piston if installed at 114 intake centerline.

    cams

The lift is more than I would run with stock springs and retainers. You will need a good set of springs and retainers to run them. You will need to check the PTV clearance on any cam with more than 225 intake duration.
