In an attempt to realign this thread, my car has been converted to mass air but still has the cam from it's speed density days.

I only mentioned speed density cam since it is currently the OEM cam for my 1988, as you know originally a speed density car. I read that the speed density cam was a little more aggressive than the later mass air cams. What cam would you recommend for a daily driver with aspirations of 280 -...

I upgraded to the Ford Racing MAS conversion back in 1990 so I am running mass air at this point with a 70mm SN95 meter. Any guesses on power? Drivability?

Same as the GT seats or LX? They look nothing like my LX seats. Darkwriter, thanks for the info!

1988 LX already has flows, oem H pipe, UD pulleys on the crank and waterpump, 65mm TB, 1.72 roller rockers, 1 5/8" shorties, 70mm SN95 MAS. I found an Edelbrock Performer intake and I was looking at either Edelbrock Performer heads or AFR 165's (only a $175 difference at Jeg's) and the OEM...

Known issues with '86 GT seats

I have a line on a set of 1986 GT halo seats for $50. The pictures look ok, the driver's seat has a small tear on one of the seams and needs a shampoo. The passenger side looks ok. I asked the seller whether the seat recline mechanism works ok and he is going to get back to me. I haven't...

    Hatch Problem??

+1 on the above. When I pulled my hatch out of 14 years of storage the hatch supports were shot. Autozone had Gabriel replacements in stock, made in USA, guaranteed for life for $15 each. Done deal.

    steering bushing

I just installed poly bushings on my rack and the difference isn't going to knock your socks off but the most obvious difference is more "feel". Not feel as in tire feedback as when discussing motorcycles, but more road vibration transmitted to the steering wheel. I installed mine because I...

Power Steering some help for others

Type F IS old school and the only specific type F I can find is a cheap-o brand at Autozone. Does anyone know if Mobil 1 is type F qualified?

    Cowl area rust + POR-15 = Win!

Por-15 comes in colors besides black - clear and silver. Per the Por-15 site, they only make the 3 colors because other colors require porous pigments, where black and silver do not. Porous pigments mean the paint won't completely repel water, negating the rust protection.

    Cowl area rust + POR-15 = Win!

I guess it depends on prep. I have used the fuel tank kit to repair Ducati gas tanks with rust scale at the weld seam. The fuel tank kit has a rust dissolver, then a follow up etch, then the actual por-15 coating. If you go to the por-15 website there is a good write-up on how to apply and...

    Cowl area rust + POR-15 = Win!

Has anyone dealt with rust in the cowl area? My 1988 has just over 18,000 miles and is in great shape or so I thought until the other day a spot of orange under the cowl grill caught my eye. A closer look and I saw rust, lots of rust. After I pulled everything apart I found that it was only...

i installed my pro 5.0 short shifter questions?

I went from an old style cast base Hurst to a Pro-5.0 and at first I hated it for all the issues noted above. What I ended up doing is buying MGW's adjustable shift lever: http://www.mgwltd.com/mustang_shift_handle.shtml This thing is awesome, cheap and COMPLETELY changed the way the Pro 5.0...

Oil Pan Bolt hole stripped....how do I fix??

Bring it to a shop with welding skill. They can drill out the old threads with a drill bit packed with axle grease which will catch the shavings and keep them out of your oil pan. If you are still worried about it, have them put a rare-earth magnet on the oil pan near the drilling area. These...

    balljoint manufacturer.

I just had Moog ball joints and outer tie rod ends installed. It was raining today so I really couldn't road test it, but the 8 mile trip from the shop to the house was much more controlled than when I dropped it off with OEM bits (only 18K miles on them). Go for Moog!
