just allow some time to let the car cool down before you start working on it. Those cats stay hot for a long time.

need some help on spending some money

I really wish I could go with long tube headers, but I would hate to have to swap them out in a year and a half for my next smog, or even worse, if I got caught, and I had to swap it back to stock. would a good set of shorty's be worth it? also will the stage 2 heads and stage 2 cams, pass the...

    Midpipe Install

his was an 03 with 20,000 on it. just do yourself a favor and let them soak as long as possible. it will save you a lot of time, and bloody knuckles. I sprayed mine down the night before, then about 2 hours before i started, and they came right off, and mine had been on there for 120,000 miles

need some help on spending some money

yeah, thats where I've gotten most of my info from, the forums are very helpful. whats the odds of my bottom end going out on me with the miles I have on it? if I went the headswap path, I would go for some stage 2 or 3 heads, with high lifting cams. then complete it with a good tune. I wouldn't...

    Midpipe Install

be very careful, and make sure you spray the bolt down with some penetrating oil the night before. my friend who has no experience with cars couldn't wait for me to come over and help him with the swap, and he ended up striping the bolt. the shop wanted to charge him $100 to cut the bolt off. he...

need some help on spending some money

so I'm getting a loan from my parents for $3500 to fix up my engine, and since my car has 152,000 miles on in now I thought it would make more sense to replace my entire engine with one out of a 98 cobra. I've been doing a lot of research on the swap, and have started to second guess if this is...

    Frpp Gear Install Kit?

the shop I got mine done at installed my installation kit, gears, and replaced all my clutch packs in my trac-loc in about 2 1/2 hours. it came to a total of $290 for labor, and oil. I would call around and get some quotes from other shops. I've seen a lot of mechanics screw people on gear...

    Damn E-Brake

I had mine replaced for the recall last week, mine also moves side to side a lot now, and is also not as smooth when you pull it up. I liked the defective one better. although it did slip one time in my friend driveway, and the car rolled into my friends brand new 03 gt

What do you clean your MAF sensor with?

electric contact cleaner, I used that on mine. it works great, leaves no residue, and wont damage the sensor. i tried using compressed air first, but it didn't get the oil off, just the dust off of it. you need a mild solvent like the electric contact cleaner to melt the oil off.

Does a vert with dumps + a bad idea?

I used to have dumps on my vert. it rattled the change in my cup-holder all all the time, but it sounded great. I now have side exhaust, and the only time I have a problem with exhaust getting in the car is when the door is open. I'm planning on going back to dumps when I do my engine swap so I...

alright, so today I cleaned my maf real well with some electric cleaner, then I swapped the one front o2 sensor I didn't replace with one from the back. still no change. then I got the idea to play with the timing. I first brought it back to stock at 10? this made the missing worse. then I kept...

why is my car running so rich

well, I just disconnected my maf and took it for a drive around the block. and the problem didn't much better or worse. so I'm almost certain its the maf now...from reading, I've come to the conclusion that replacing it with a stock one is the best. I am swapping a cobra engine in next month...

why is my car running so rich

So for the last month I've been trying to troubleshoot a very bad stumbling problem. I changed the spark plugs, cleaned the iac, cleaned the maf, and tried changing out the coil packs. no luck. so I took it in and pulled the codes, and it the mechanic told me the passenger side front o2 sensor...
