    sounds like you have a miss somewhere and not a timing issue. how did you set your timing? setting it at 11.5 with a timing light would be very difficult, i dont know how you can confidently say "11.5" if you did.

    from a dyno runs book i have, it gains a little hp, not much though, but a good amount of lowend tq. between my longtubes and my old equal length headers, on my gtech comp., at 2900 it made close to 40 rwtq more, by 3200 it was making 20 rwtq more but from 3750+ basically made the same power...

    check your spark plugs, might as well change them while your at it. I had a miss like 4 years ago that went away when i changed the spark plugs even though they looked good. actually, im gonna try that on my car tomorrow since i havent tried that yet since acquiring a miss recently.

    i know the vortech heads are basically LT1 heads but iron and are mounted on a Gen I block. and you also need to run different valve covers other than the regular Gen I stuff to clear the rocker arms on the heads as well.

    i agree, they are not gods gift to motors. put some equally well flowing heads on just about any similar displacement motor and throw the same mods on it and the thing is going to make roughly the same HP for the most part. I dont see anything wrong with putting chevy stuff in a ford or vice...
