timing question

how would i tell if my timeing is set before or after TDC? when i timed my car i have it set at 11.5 i believe but it keeps acting up such as one day it will run pefect then the next it will pop non stop while i hold the gas about half way down. any ideas?

sounds like you have a miss somewhere and not a timing issue.

how did you set your timing? setting it at 11.5 with a timing light would be very difficult, i dont know how you can confidently say "11.5" if you did.
