    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

Update time.....I just went to TCIAUTO.COM, they list the converter I have. Bolt hole pattern is 9.375". They list it as the mustang 2 converter size. I guess I have 2 options then.... 1. Change my crank back to a '79 style with the 24 oz. balancer or 2. See if I can get a mustang 2 flexplate...

    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

Hey Thumper, O.K. I did some checking. The flywheel is 164 tooth and the input shaft is 26. My question is, when you say 10" converter.... how do you measure that? I need to know if I have a 10" converter. The input shaft fits properly in the stall converter also, and the stall converter fits in...

Hey Thumper, yea I'm still kickin'.....I'm still confussed, this guy just came over. He's been moding fords for a long time. Here's what he said. My motor came out of a 85, so I need the 50 oz. balancer. The flywheel needs to match the 50 oz. balancer. He had a flywheel for a 10" converter. The...

Man, we just was getting ready to put this engine in the car. Went to put the Edge racing Stall converter in,and low in behold the bolt pattern is different. The stall conv. has 9 1/4 " bolt pattern side to side. The flexplate has a 11 1/2" bolt pattern. What are my options??????? Help.....

79 flywheel vs 85 also balancer

Thanks so far...... I don't know why, I always say flywheel. So, if it's an auto, it's called a flexplate? And the balancer and flexplate should match? I have both so that's no problem. I just hope that it don't cause a problem with the stall converter and C4 tranny. I may need a 85 starter...

79 flywheel vs 85 also balancer

Finally ready to put this motor and tranny in this weekend. Am I correct in thinking I have to use the 85 balancer in the 85 roller motor and not the 79? Also, is there a difference in the flywheels? Lastly, the 2 pieces only go on one way correct ? P.S. the motor is out of a 85. Car is a 79...

    Control arm removal

Wow, on my ol' 79 they weren't that bad. You are putting a wrench on the opposite side right? I just moved it till the wrench became lodged against the frame and used leg power on the breaker bar. Be careful though, make sure the car don't come off the stands.

    Motor mounts

HISSIN50, I can get mounts for the 79 but, they look like crap next to the 86 mounts. Since my car only had 142 HP originally, the 79 mounts were O.K. The engine is going to be producing much more now. Hence the need for better mounts. People recommended the 86 conv. mounts. I did find out that...

    Motor mounts

There is a pin that fits in a hole in the K mem. What is that pin for? My 79 don't have a hole for the mounts in the location that the 86 mounts have. Can I grind the pin off, or drill a hole in the K Mem for the pin to set in? Any ideas are welcome here. Thanks.......

    Calling all Engine Techs !!!!!

How many miles are on the engine? Did you do a compression check? If you have to just, learn how to rebuild it yourself. Take the block and have it hot tanked and bored 30 over. $150 buck maybe, then rebuild it yourself.

    Can anyone give a reason?????

How much fluid are you putting in? Did you check the fluid level on the stick in neutral with the car running? Is it a new tranny?

    79 mustang motor mounts

Went to autozone again. The mounts for the 79 are much cheaper than the mounts for a 86 vert. Will it hurt the K-Mem if I drill an additional hole so I can use the vert mounts? Does anyone have a pic of there K-mem on a 86 so I have an idea how big to drill the hole?

    79 mustang motor mounts

I can't seem to find the thread I'm looking for. I could have swore people were telling me to get the 86 vert mounts. Well, I went to autozone today and picked up the mounts. They look like the right size but, there is a stud (dowel pin) that looks like it fits in a hole on the k member. My hole...

    BBK C/C plate install Question

That's a good question. I just removed all the original stuff and installed the BBK's. Of course, my car isn't on the road yet. My hood doesn't fit right yet also, I think I need to add the other spacer that came with the kit. I don't think you need the old boot though. I didn't see any way to...

    rebuilding C4 transmission

Hey guys, been a while now but, Im getting the transmission done this week. I'm putting a high performance rebuilt kit. New everything, with a transgo stage 2 shift kit and a "C" servo. They say they use the "C" servo on Shelby cars. Does this combo on the tranny sound O.K. ?

motorsports front lower control arms? (long)

You might want to ask whoever put them in if they loaded the suspension, before they tightened the LCA bolts. Also you may want to check your inner tie rod ends. I didn't notice but, did you put new lowering springs in? I read somewhere that if you have lowering springs you may need to change...
