Engine still ticking, me still banging my head.

The wires are new Taylor pro wires. I don't "think" they are arching but I'll check.

Engine still ticking, me still banging my head.

I'm using a pair of used/new Hooker Comp. long tubes. What type of "spray" could I use to check for pin-hole leaks?

Engine still ticking, me still banging my head.

I was 'told" by the PO that the engine had 55,000 miles. Other then the ticking, the motor runs strong.

Engine still ticking, me still banging my head.

I've have done everything I can think of to stop this damn noise. It sounds like a lifter/exhaust leak, but I've replaced the header gaskets and made sure of proper lifter preload. You can hear the tick better if your underneath the car. I bought a mechanics stethoscope, and I can hear the tick...

    Engine making ticking nosie.

Yup it's down to the last of the steel core of the gasket. I'm going to pick some new gaskets up tomorrow, which brand should I get? I'm using Fel-pros right now and I want to use something better. I don't like the thin part on the outside. :notnice:

    Engine making ticking nosie.

Anyone think this might be the problem?

    Engine making ticking nosie.

Its a possibility, I'll check the plugs after sun up. I thought it might be the flexplate or the converter to flexplate nuts coming loose. But wouldn't that cause the tick to happen at twice the speed of my timing light flash?

    Engine making ticking nosie.

Is the throwout bearing in the torque converter or the valve body? PS Not trying to be an a$$, just making a joke. :D

    Engine making ticking nosie.

OK it seems to be coming from the back of the block. I can hear it better under the car, but it may just be resonating through the headers. I hooked a timing light up and the noise is the same frequency as the light flash, so its not crankshaft related. I'm going to try some of that engine...

    Engine making ticking nosie.

I verified that each rocker has zero lash. I'm using the stock rockers. PS tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. :(

    Engine making ticking nosie.

Well I'm not exactly sure if I've found the problem. I can hear a clicking sound coming from the left side of the engine now. I double checked the rockers and they are all super tight. What else can I check?

69/70 & 71/73 CD player with radio bezel!

I just got my Californa Mustang summer sale catalog and saw these. They are more money then the JME unit but you get a CD/MP3 player with these. You can choose either Kenwood or Blaupunkt and different color bezels with the Kenwood.

    My car runs like crap

Check timing advance to make sure its working. If the car runs better with 20 degrees of timing the SPOUT circuit maybe open. You can try forcing the computer into "failure mode" to pinpoint problems, by unplugging the MAF, o2s, ACT, or ECT. I used this method to find out my o2s weren't being...

    Engine making ticking nosie.

Thanks for the reply Slim. I used a "piece of hose / long screwdriver" and I've localized the sound to #4 cylinder. So if it is the exhaust which gasket do you guys suggest? I've heard Earl (Holley) makes the best. I guess if I must pay $40.00 to stop this leak I'll do it, because it sounds...

    Engine making ticking nosie.

OK here's the deal. Ever since I first got my car drivable there has been a ticking noise coming from the right/rear side of the engine. The noise is present whenever the engine is running but is louder when under load. Also the noise increases in frequency with engine RPM. I've checked the...

    1969 9 inch rear interchange?

So could I use a Versailles rear which is 58.5" and use some 5/16 or 7/16" spacers to bring it closer to 59.25?

    1969 9 inch rear interchange?

I need to get rid of my 2.79 peg-leg 8". So I might as well upgrade to a 9" while I'm at it. Which cars have 9"ers that will interchange with a 69 Mustang without shortening the housing or using huge spacers?
