Easy replacement for stock cylinder heads

No, you don't need "P" headers, just 90 degree plug boots. It's not complicated. The heads can be found really cheap, and if the budget is really tight, just add new springs and use the P heads as they are. Still a great head. I have no misses or burnt wires. The engine has been for a year with...

Easy replacement for stock cylinder heads

The "P" heads are really nice. I had mine ported with new springs and a good valve job. I also used my BBK shorty headers (unequal length). All I had to swap were the plug wires to a new set with 90degree plug boots. You don't have to buy new expensive headers to use them. It's a myth. The P...

    '88 Cougar Rear End?

The rear itself is the same width and will bolt in, but the axle shafts on the Cougar are longer than the Stang's. It'll add about 3/4 of an inch to each side in total width.

    Valve covers for scorpion rr's

I've seen some people use the rubber/cork hybrid gaskets and double them up to add clearance. It worked on my friend's Stang. No baffle work done. A thin coat of sealant between the gaskets to bond them, and slightly longer bolts. No leaks.

What did you do for your Fox today?

I took the Sport out for a spirited drive to test the new 70mm polished throttle body and spacer,3 row aluminum radiator and Taurus fan I installed (and 180 degree thermostat) and cranked the A/C to see how she reacted. GREAT !!! It was 105 degrees, and the gauge never moved past the halfway...

    Why split?

Is that an Explorer intake? Looks to be. My Explorer "P" engine was like that, my original 5.0 was not. The original PCV only has one hose to the intake. You can use that though.

    Which Injectors

There the skinny ones with the correct plugs on them Some Taurus's have them. Although they only have 6. I see them on Ebay all the time for a reasonable price as well. I'll grab a link. They are said to atomize the fuel better. If it is true or not, I can't say, but I used them before I got a...

Few ?'s on auto to manual conversion

There's a plug in the firewall where the cable goes through. It goes straight off the quadrant and out the hole, mounts to the inner fender on the driver side (should fall right into place, and the hole for the mounting bolt is there), then wrap around back to the clutch fork.

What did you do for your Fox today?

I installed the new motor mounts, new BBK headers, and a new 3 row aluminum radiator. Now I'm taking a break. It's 102 outside. Gotta go back out and re-install the strut tower brace then quit for the day. Holy Crap.

question about GT-40 and GT-40p heads

There are a lot of horror stories about the "P" heads, and header issues. It's not that bad. The "P" heads a re actually the better head overall, and I have BBK unequal length shorty headers on mine. I just bought a set of Taylor plug wires with 90 degree plug boots. Plenty of room, no issues at...

    Driveshaft shortening?

I had a Crown Vic cop car aluminum drive shaft shortened and balanced for my Thunderbird. It was $123.00 to shorten it, balance it, and install adapter u-joints to use my yoke and flange with the larger driveshaft. A LOT cheaper than ordering a custom drive shaft. Performance Drivetrain in...

    h pipe question

When I had my factory h-pipe a long time ago, I got a steel rod, sharpened one end like a standard screwdriver, and used it with a hammer to break out all of the material from inside the cats. Nice sound, and no more plugged H-Pipe, and, best of all, free.

    Keeps Overheating

Fox Thunderbirds and Cougars share the same radiators. I personally understand being out of funds for the car, but you really should just save a few bucks and buy a new one. No telling what shape the radiators are at the salvage yard, and that's an important part for the car. Autozone carries...
