    Battery/electrical question

I award you no prize and may god have mercy on your soul. How do you know the altenator is bad? You tested it yourself, right? I'm not saying that the alternator is not bad, I'm was just saying that the battery is more likely to be the culprit.

    installing freeze plugs...

I agree. They are a tight fit, but they shouldn't be too hard to pop in with a socket and hammer.

    Battery/electrical question

If the car runs while jumper cables are hooked up and stalls when you disconnect them, the it is either the battery or the alternator. But even with a bad alternator, a car with a good battery will run for awhile. I would load test the battery. I would lean more towards the battery being bad...

    Power Window Problem

Sometimes my driver side motor acts up on me and it stops working. So I whack the door panel a few times and it works again. The motor is just worn out. I have seen repair kits around but I don't know about their quality.

Looking at a Griffin radiator... any imput would help

I have one. Its a little tight, but it will fit. I had to do a little body work, but after that it slid right in. Even the stock mounts work, both upper and lower. I didn't have any cooling problems when I installed it, so I can't testify to its cooling efficiency, but it has to be more...

    Greasing bushings?

Did you tighten the LCA bolts while the suspension was loaded? Sometimes, bushings will make noise if the fasteners are tightened with no load on the suspension.

    Dry Sump Street Fox

I agree. Any benefits from a dry sump setup will not offset the cost on a street car.

    timing chain.

There is a check valve in the fuel pump that can fail that will also allow pressure to drop after the pump has shut off.

    timing chain.

Actually, it is possible for a chain to stretch to the point where it will skip a tooth. Also, a better way to check to fuel pressure is to hook up the gauge, turn the key (engine off) and watch the pressure. When the pump turns on it should build to approx 40 psi and when the pump shuts...

why is gas coming out of cap?

The reason why gas is coming out is because pressure is being built inside the tank and its not being released. When you remove the gas cap, the pressure releases all of a sudden and gas comes out. I've have seen over a gallon spill out out of a gas tank when removing the cap because it was...

    Early Explorer ?

It is my understanding the intakes considered to be "early explorer" intakes were built up to 2/97. I know of an upper intakee for sale that has a 3/97 production date. The upper does have the EGR hole in the middle of mating surface. Is this pretty much the only difference between the early...

does anyone know how you burp a cooling system?

The simplest way is to fill the system until full. Start the car and leave the cap off. The water level will rise and eventually overflow but then it will fall rapidly. Fill the system back up and install the cap. You should be good after that.

Help Identifying Plugs on 89 5.0 Harness

Also, I have an 89 harness in my 88 and I don't remember those white connectors in image 1. I have heard that the 90 and later harnesses have 2 white connectors for the airbags that are near the firewall grommet. Where are those connectors located in the harness?

Help Identifying Plugs on 89 5.0 Harness

Try this site: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Wiring_harnesses.htm Image 5: I think those are secondary air connectors. Image 6: I think that one sends various signals to the dash along with a black connector simiilar to that one. Image 7: I believe is the connector near the...

What makes a Cold Air Kit...a Cold Air Kit?

A true cold air kit will draw air in from the fenderwell or some other location where the air temp is considerably lower then the air temp in the engine compartment. I would say 90% of "cold air kits" are not cold air kits because they are not drawing in cold air. A heat shield around the...

    Knocking Sound was Rod's

Its not like the Mustang is a complicated car. I'm quite sure are there are a lot of competent mechanics out there who can build a 302. That thing has been around for 40+ years.

    elec window probs

To verify that the motor is the problem (when its not working), you can watch the voltmeter on the dash and when you push the window switch, the needle will drop. If not, then the problem lies somewhere else.
