Something is funky with my battery.

If you have 4 volts at the battery with the car off, then your battery is junk. Replace it. You probably have mutiple bad cells. Your alternator is probably working at full capacity just to get it up to 11 volts. The white residue is from your sulfated battery.

    Relay Problems HELP ASAP!!!

I agree that 30 and 87 are are interchangable with each other as well as 85 and 86 being interchangable. However, this is incorrect. The fog light switch should be wired to 86 (or 85), not 30. And 30 (or 87) should be the one that feeds power to the fog lights when the relay is activated.

    A/C Compressor Woes

I think I get what you're trying to say. But you're misusing the terms here. The pulley is what the belt is riding and is spinning (freewheels) 100% of the time. If it wasn't then you would hear a loud screech from the belt. The clutch, or hub as some people have called it, is what actually...

    Relay Problems HELP ASAP!!!

I think you have you're relay wired wrong. Terminal 30 should be connected to constant battery power. (KL30) Terminal 87 should be you're output to the fog lights. Terminal 86 is your coil input and Terminal 85 is your coil output. You say that terminal 86 is the output to the fog...

    A/C Compressor Woes

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say. The clutch is still engaging even with the connector unplugged? This is not possible. And when you say the pulley only turns occasionally, do you mean the clutch? The pulley should always be turning 100% of the time that the engine is running...

    Air in Power Steering Lines

I have never tried it that way, but it makes sense that it would work. Fortunately for me, I don't have to talk to customers. Service writers do that for me. Although, I would still advise against going to full lock, as this creates cavitation (air) in the pump.

    Air in Power Steering Lines

That is why you are supposed to turn the wheel back and forth just short of lock to lock. If you do that, with the wheels off the ground, it will work just fine.

How To Do A Compression Test On My Car?

    1. Remove all spark plugs. This allows for even cranking/breathing. 2. Disable fuel by disconnecting the fuel pump relay or pulling the fuse. If you only disable spark, then you will still get fuel injected during cranking. 3. Install compression gauge and crank car with the throttle fully...

    Trouble Codes: What's it mean?

Well, concerning the O2 faults, a resistance check isn't going to tell you much of anything. The only real way to check an O2 sensor is to look at the voltage pattern on an osciloscope and test its responsiveness. A multimeter is too slow to respond to the voltage fluctuations and will...

    Anyone have any Ranger Knowledge?

I used to own an 88 2.3l Ranger. I had the same problem; difficulty shifting, gears grinding, etc... I replaced the slave cylinder and it shifted like butter afterwards. I hear that this is actually a common problem on Rangers.

    High mileage 351w usable?

My buddy has a 78 F150 with a 351w and he is planning on intalling a new long block. My question is, would a 270,000 mile motor (specifically the block) be worth using as long as it hasn't already been bored and doesn't have any cracks? If so, I plan to buy it off him and put it in my 88 GT...

    Whats the best coolant mixture

Yes, I agree. Dex-cool has proven to cause a lot more problems then ethylene glycol ever has. After awhile, the dex-cool starts to turn to sludge, starts to cause cooling issues and is then is a nightmare to flush out. And to answer the original question, in cold weather states, I would...

    Wiper Cleaner Lines Clogged

If you have access to compressed air, then you can shoot air through the nozzles and clear up the blockage. Just make sure your reservoir cap is off. Works like a champ.

    Gasket Scraper or razor blade?

For aluminium, I like to use a bronze wire wheel on a die grinder. But if you don't have one, a razor blade held at a relatively horizontal angle will work fine. You won't gouge the metal unless you're really going at it.

    Check Engine Light in '88?

Must be nice to never be wrong. So the smog tech made a mistake; doesn't mean he should lose his job. Any car equipped with an MIL, regardless of year, has to have a functioning MIL light. I also have a non-CA 88 GT and live in CA. Their is place on the cluster for the MIL, but it did...

    Antifreeze no longer available?

Ethylene glycol is sold everywhere. If your parts store doesn't stock it, then find a new store to go to. Dex-cool is designed for aluminum engines and has no benefit to iron engines. It works fine, but I would recommend "the green stuff". The thing about dex-cool is that after a while, it...

    Questions of CA SMOG test?

I will venture a stab and say that lowering the fuel pressure would not make much of difference. My reason being that, if your fuel pressure is high enough to fail you for CO, then it probably is high enough to take out your cat. And you would fail anyways. So, I would guess if your cats are...

Cut springs or buy cheap lowering springs on ebay?

You may have perceived the car to handle better after. More power to you. But, this is not BS. Have you ever heard of heat treating? Heating up metal to alter its molecular structure. The purpose is to strengthen the metal. But the catch is that it must be done in a very controlled...

    me vs 300c

I actually raced a 300C at LACR in Palmdale, CA a few months back. IIRC it ran a 15.4 at 2500 feet. I think thats around a 14.8 corrected. I'm not sure what all the magazines tested it at, but I think they ran faster then that. Driver probably just wasn't very good.
