    you mentioned air holding the valve so i'll assume the heads are on the engine and you're using air to hold the valve up.. use a normal size hammer(no need for 5lb sledge) and tap the retainer on top, not the valve itself while trying to compress it with the tool.     AWD Aerostar Aluminum driveshaft

    make sure the 97 one is the right length...i've got 3 AWD aluminum driveshafts and every time i swap the yoke and flange with both from a mustang, and use new HD U joints(for a mustang, there is no "conversion" about it)

    does it still have front wheels and no jackstands? it's all in the pivot point location, put them towards the middle and you can raise the back or front with 1 finger...ask me how i know(i have a stripped and gutted coupe on jack stands i'm working on)

    the tops of the pistons being black is from being a little too rich, and isn't unusual or a bad thing...now it they're white/green that means antifreeze in the cylinders, and lean usually looks like your pistons but has spots of aluminum piston showing through the carbon

    there was a clean 90' 4cyl notch with a mismatched black front bumper cover and hood, nice black interior, complete and almost running, etc.. at a local junkyard for 400.00, keep in mind it was 90% rust free(the only rust was from sitting at the yard for a couple years), hardly any parts...
