Chasing idle issue may be a MAF problem?

Hi Gardy, The MAF max voltage is already at 4.9999 I don't know hat the A/F ratio is, no WB, but the car doesn't show any signs of running lean. I know you had to change your stock MAF but you also have better heads and cam. I'm just trying to decide where to go from here. Eric

Chasing idle issue may be a MAF problem?

Updated info C&L testing Hi Stangers, I got tired, of messing with the 76MM C&L and decided to go back to the stock MAF. My plan was to get the car running real good and then try the C&L. I was able to get the stock MAF running fine. Without changing any mechanical adjustments, I put...

Chasing idle issue may be a MAF problem?

Hi Grady, My sig combo is another Mustang I have. I have five cars. This one is the $600 Vert, '94 GT 331, Cobra intake, 24#, 65MM TB, 76Mm C&L, Stage 1 cam, GT40Y heads, 1.7:1 Crane rockers. I'm not sure, with the T4MO, how to influnce idle A/F ratio, unless you run OL all the time...

Chasing idle issue may be a MAF problem?

The meter works great at anything above idle. I am confident in the curve. It's the MAFV output thats wacko. I also tried reclocking the meter. I have also noticed the the MAFV changes with ACT. In other words, at 50 DEGF ACT, 870 RPM gives .7VDC, at 100 DEGF act, 870 RPM gives .65VDC...

Chasing idle issue may be a MAF problem?

Yes, I have. However, this wouldn't cause the MAFV to increase as RPM decreases. I have also tried different MAF sensor and clocking the meter. The only thing that helps is setting the idle up to 850 RPM, which shouldn't be required with my mild cam. Thanks, Eric

Chasing idle issue may be a MAF problem?

Hi Tuners, My car is a '94 T4MO, 331 mild stroker. I'm running a 76MM C&L. My idle is stable except until the fan comes on. Once in a while, the ICS catches the additional load but most of the time, the engine dies. I data logged this and saw that the MAF voltage went up as the RPMs went...

    Weird Cooling Issue

Your AM gauge is downstream of the T-stat. The factory gauge is upstream. On the T-stat opens, the AM gauge sees the same temp as the factory gauge. Eric

    Another Thottle Body question.

Use a grease zirc fitting, fits perfect and the tapered threads make the install easy.

Code 118 but temp guage still works

LOL I whish I was that smart. It was more like I posted and then relaized I already knew the answer! The gauge is hooked to the sender and the EEC is hooked to the ECT sensor.

    Questions on EGR Valve?

My BBKs came with a 5/8" OD EGR tube that was to short beacuse I used a 3/8" intake spacer. I cut the tube in half and used a 5/8" compression union to extend the tube. These unions are also available in 1/2" OD. Once tightened, they are leak free. Be sure to have both ends tight before...

    Lifter preload procedure differences

Hi Stangers, I am doing some research to get ready for dealing with lifter noise on a new engine I just finished. The symtoms are a noise that comes on about 1000 RPM and goes away at about 2000 rpm. The noise gets less as the engine warms. At best, it's till load enough to cause me...

Surging idle: What worked for me

Hi Guys, I recently completed a new engine, for my $600 Vert and it's on the road. It has been running for two weeks now but the idle was so bad, I didn't drive it anywhere. I am running a 331 with GT40Y heads, Cobra intake, 1.72:1 rockers C&L 77MM cold air with 24# calibration and TFS stage...

Cheap speedo solution for 3.55:1 or larger

LOL, good one! I like to share solutions and help the less technical solve problems. For example, I found a $54 digital, programable display with a 8A relay that is the cheapest, best way to run an electric fan. http://www.dwyer-inst.com/htdocs/temperature/SeriesTSPrice.cfm I use 2, one...

Cheap speedo solution for 3.55:1 or larger

Touchy, ehh? Hope your day gets better. I was trying to be funny. I guess any part bought from FORD is a FORD part right? Maybe you were really at a Chrysler dealership. LOL I searched, for about 10 minutes and found no references to any 23T ford speedo gear. I did find TCI had a...

OK, Mr Smarty Pants, bring forth the Ford P/N. Don't look close or you may see "Chrysler" on it! LOL No Ford 23T gears are shown in 2007 FMS catolog. Other stuff I found: Ford Speedometer Gears Drive Gears Driven Gears 6 teeth - machined into output shaft (C6 only) 16 teeth - tan...

Cheap speedo solution for 3.55:1 or larger

Both the speedcal and the Dakota Digital can use what ever tranny gears, tire size, and rear gears you have. It's just a matter of doing the calc, setting the factor or driving with the up or down button on. The speedcal doesn't have this feature. Let's say you know, from passing a radar...

Cheap speedo solution for 3.55:1 or larger

Adam, For a while, I was running a white 23T gear and the center part of the teeth tore out after just a few miles. Ford doesn't make a white 23T gear so that must have been A Chrysler gear. It didn't last long. Eric

Cheap speedo solution for 3.55:1 or larger

Check out the New Ford Racing 2007 catolg, pg 139. They have redone the chart that shows what works. If I had a T5, that uses the 7T drive gear, I would be OK. If they made a 23T driven gear, I would be OK but I haven't found one. Eric
