    Steering and Suspensin questions

Here is a kit we just put on a '66 coup and the owner was very pleased. A kit like this is simple, looks stock and will give the car a nice ride and great handling. It dosn't take much to get these cars to drive a lot better than they did from the factory. A performance alignment is as important...

    When do you NEED posi?

You need it anytime the car is in motion. While the car is at rest, a one leg'er is OK but other than sitting at the car show, well, they should both work. A line lock is also a must with a dual traction unit.

    Doing Shelby drop

It's true. We have three new roller spring perch designs. The roller perch we sell now will called a street roller perch. The other three will be an Autocross roller perch, a double roller drag racing perch and a double roller road racing perch. The double roller perches will let the shock pivot...

    Doing Shelby drop

Hi guy's sorry I'm late. When I came up with my roller perch design in 2003, it got a lot of bashing, it's nothing new. I wish Marlon all the best. I have been a long time advocate of moving the upper ball joint rearward instead of moving the lower ball joint forward to get more caster on...

    restomod steering/suspension question

It's the same arm. Each end is greasable and has what Moog calles a gusher bearing. It's a much better design than the dual rubber bushing unit the cars came with. The K8161 and K8158 arms are for the 67-70 cars only. The early cars use a roller idler arm made from a Moog K8106 idler arm...

    restomod steering/suspension question

I talked with Marlon a short while back, nice guy and he know's his stuff. ORP does a lot of street, weekend car, and track stuff. On a street car (daily driver) I want the tire flat to the ground (no camber). If the car is used for a weekend car, with some back road curves, then you add more...

    restomod steering/suspension question

Another thing is the alignment. If the car is set to factory settings, it won't drive well at all. As Matt said, the adj. strut rods are a big help too but at $340pr. they are a hard hit on the budget. We don't run them on our daily drivers. Again, the rubber bushings are what makes the cars...

    restomod steering/suspension question

The three things that will help give the car a smoother ride with better steering and handling are roller spring perches, roller idler arm and a large (1 1/8") front sway bar. If the car has stock rubber bushings in the spring perches and idler arm, and the car has a stock sway bar, the change...

Ride height questions- Reverse eyes, oh my

I used Mobil 1 synthetic grease (red stuff) on my poly bushings and they don't squeek. I even have the poly shackle kit and they don't squeek. White grease doesn't work for me. I use the Mobil 1 on everything, works great on window rollers and tracks.

    Spring perch hitting A Arm?

It does look like the perch body has slid on the bushing. It is off center for sure. We have never had a problem with the roller perches hitting the arm like that. Photo of arm Roller perches on sale

    Ford Sqeek! Upper control arm

I agree. The ones in the photo are $550pr. We call them drag racing roller arms. They are a stock type arm with no bracing or ball joint change, just the roller bearing shaft kit. The drag racers love 'em. We have sold a lot of full roller front ends to the NHRA crowd.

    Ford Sqeek! Upper control arm

I agree that the stock set up is better than rubber bushings. To get the grease where it needs to go to keep them from squeeking, I put a pry bar under the nut I'm greasing and push up while the grease is going in (might need two people, I use a gizmo I made up). That will open a space at the...

    Ford Sqeek! Upper control arm

We sell one that has a roller bearing shaft kit but they are overkill for a street car. The best thing I have found to do is take the shaft kit apart, de-burr and pre-lube it. Put it back in the arm and make sure the shaft kit is centered in the arm, tighten the nuts down till they stop and...

    Do Roller Idler Arms work?

The extra caster will help keep the car going straight at speed also. The factory alignment settings don't have enouph caster. The idler arms we sell for the 67-up cars is the arm from Moog. They have what's called a gusher bearing. The arm is greasable on each end unlike the stock arm that...
