    Donlop Tires

I had Dunlap SP 8000s on a previous car. Tread life was very short (18,000) but they were an excellent summer high-performance tire. They were fine in the rain and stuck like glue. However, don't even think about driving in the winter with them. You can probably do OK in dry winter, but they...

    weld in flows

yeah, I have the non-stainless steel version of these clamped (yes, clamped) into the stock system. Sound is awesome; yes, you do get drone but with 4.10s it's not a problem since you are out of the drone zone. And I like the drone! However, unless you think you can actually buy the...

Topline Catback Installed with Spintechs & Vid!

Man, I've been waiting for someone to put together a stainless steel, mandrel bent flowmaster catback! The price isn't too bad either. Would you consider the tips to look just like the stockers only bigger? How big are the stock tips again? 3" I like the rolled exhaust tips by MRT, but...

    abnormal exhaust Q

I highly recommend the MRT catted H-pipe. Many catted midpipes still trip the MIL, but that's not been my experience with the MRT catted H-pipe. I have a pair of 40 series Deltaflows clamped into the stock system with my catted MRT H-pipe. The sound is excellent - very much like the 5.0s with...

    Spark Knocking or Exhaust Leak?

It's spark knock/ping/predetonation. Considering you've got a 1997 GT, I'm guesssing you also have a fair amount of mileage on your car. Regardless, get some electrical component cleaner, remove your MAF (carefully - and I think it takes Torx security bits) and clean your MAF. Bet that fixes...

Exhaust/Catback w/ Classic Muscle Car Sound

Wrong. Many people who run with the catted version of the Bassani X-pipe end up needing a chip or MIL eliminators due to the inefficiency of the new single cats. My brother has first hand experience with this on his '00, as do many other people who have the catted Bassani X-pipe. I'm not...

Exhaust/Catback w/ Classic Muscle Car Sound

Didn't know that. . . can't say I don't like the MRT catted h-pipe though. I don't even have MIL eliminators yet I've yet to get a check engine light. The same can not be said for the Bassani catted X pipe (at least not on most cars I've seen this used on.) I'd love to hear the catted MAC...

Exhaust/Catback w/ Classic Muscle Car Sound

I totally agree. If the prochamber was offered in a catted version, I would have this instead of my catted MRT h-pipe. However, I believe I have another very good "classic" mustang rumble combo. I currently have MRT's catted H-pipe along with deltaflow 2-chambers clamped into the stock...

    Dyno #'s

If your numbers are SAE-corrected, then your experience would be a testament to the fact that CAIs and catbacks don't do much for our cars. See my stock dyno numbers in my sig for a baseline comparison: Also - I'm assuming you were on a dynojet, of course!

    gears & gas mileage..............

A stock mustang 4.6L will not "knock" if you run a higher octane than the manual requires. Guess I just turned this into an octane discussion . . .

    gears & gas mileage..............

Wow. . . I really hope this doesn't turn into another octane thread. I drive my mustang year-round in mixed driving - about 50/50 hwy/city. My gas mileage is almost the same as it was with 3.27s. I'm averaging about 19-20 mpg and I've had 4.10s for about a year. I was pleasantly surprised...

    Question about EEC at WOT

Cool - thanks again for the input.

    Question about EEC at WOT

Thanks, this is helpful. So, if I'm interpreting this correctly, most of the sensors are still being "read" by the EEC but the EEC uses pre-set timing & injector pulse data from data tables imbedded in the EEC? Also, what's "MAP"? Thanks!

    Question about EEC at WOT

What sensors are still feeding info to the EEC during WOT operation? IAT? MAF? TPS? Oil Pressure? Oil Temp? I've read up a few things about the EEC on my 01 and I'm just trying to determine if at WOT (open loop) the air/fuel is totally controlled by pre-set WOT tables or if the EEC still...

    New Front Bumper

I bought a bumper from bumpers.com and was very happy with the paint match and price. I highly recommend them for doing bumper covers on the cheap, especially since they already come in your car's Ford color so you don't have to mess with painting them.

Funny sound with O/R H pipe

This is common with aftermarket H and X pipes. I even have this sound with my new catted H pipe. More than likely, it's just the exhaust valves opening and closing. A lighter gauge (thinner) mid-pipe coupled with the fact you have 2 fewer or no cats just amplifies the valvetrain noise...

    MRT H-pipe & deltaflows!

I really can't say I "felt" much difference. I'm not sure anyone can really feel 7-9 horsepower anyways. If anything, I felt a little more in the midrange, ironically. Similar to what my SOTP meter felt when I installed the plenum/TB combo. The real test will be when I hit the track a few...

    MRT H-pipe & deltaflows!

Just got my MRT H-pipe with cats installed today. If you like the flowmaster sound like I do (I have deltaflows clamped into the stock catback), then you'll like this h-pipe. The basic flowmaster signature sound is still there, only it's a little amplified and definitely sounds significantly...

Which Oil is the King of the Hill?

This is incorrect; the "w" actually indicates the oil meets viscocity standards to be used at 0 degrees F and thus qualifies as a "winter" oil. The first number is a measure of the viscocity of the oil at 0 deg. F. The latter number tells you how much the oil will thin. For example, a 5W-20...

What octane to run on 4.6 GT Anyway?

Fact: Unless your car suffers from spark knock/detonates/pings on 87 OR you are running a higher base timing (timing adjuster) OR a chip with advanced timing tables, 87 is the way to go and you are wasting your money spending extra on higher octane. Fact: According to Ford's own...
