    What i need-98 V6 stang v.s. 00 Integra GSR

Problem with the idea of a V8 swap is that some states are a lot pickier than others about emissions laws. I know that if someone pulled into a sniffer station here with a carb'd anything that was originally fuel injected, the station manager would laugh you out of the facility. Just ain't gonna...

Head gasket question... trimming drain hole?

So I get to change head gaskets on my sister's '95 coupe... again... but my question is: Why have I been told that you need to trim a 'drain hole' in the updated gaskets when using them on the '95? Last time I did this 6 months ago, I know I didn't know to trim a hole, but I also used just...

    '95 3.8L dropped a cylinder?

Well, to answer all your suggestions in order: -Checked all the plugs and wires and all appeared okay -injector checked out okay and seals tight when not firing -compression was the same wet or dry -the compression tests were done with the injectors unplugged so there was no fuel being...

    What i need-98 V6 stang v.s. 00 Integra GSR

Forget the 8.8". You don't make enough power to need one, even with a blower. Besides, the 8.8" is heavier and requires more power to turn. Install shorter gears in the 7.5" and maybe a TracLok and call it good. The key to the V6 Mustangs in terms of dropping times is to keep the weight off...

    '95 3.8L dropped a cylinder?

Okay, updates... -compression test shows that 5 of the 6 cylinders are between 168-180lbs. The #6 cylinder is at 143-145. -the plug from the #6 cylinder was wet and smelled strongly of gas when removed. The liquid evaporated withing a minute. I still haven't seen signs of leaking...

    '95 3.8L dropped a cylinder?

So my sister's '95 coupe decided to take a dump this morning. It sounds like it's dropped a cylinder or two, and absolutely stinks of gas from the exhaust. It also seems to be puffing steam out of the driver's side pipe (I converted it to dual exhaust for those wondering), but it's not steam...

    Changing heads, couple questions

Have a '67 Fastback with a 302 out of a '68-ish Galaxy that was refreshed twenty years ago, and is definately in need of more performance. So far I've installed a full exhaust including long tube headers and a MSD box/coil, etc, and it came with a Performer intake and Carter 4bbl. Then...

Anyone tried rebuilding a wheel hub?

Just curious if anyone here has tried to rebuild a wheel hub. It can be done, because someone has to rebuild them for parts stores to be able to sell reman'd units. Obviously it would require a press and wouldn't be as easy for the typical shade tree mechanic to do compared with the older style...

    96-98 Cobra pro-cons...

Unless you count the '93 Lincoln Mark VIII, which has the venerable b-headed DOHC 4.6L. :D

    Why did #5 die?

The problem is that I still have good compression in all 8 cylinders. There isn't an obvious reason for this cylinder to be dead. Since I've got it out now I think I'll spend the $15 on a new CKP and see if'n that helps any.

    Why did #5 die?

That's cool, already started a thread in the 4.6 section. Just figured that since this is about a 4V 4.6L Cobra motor that I'd start in the SVT section.

4R70W Problems after J-mod: Need Help!!

Did you inspect the 1-2 accumulator and housing for damage? The earlier 4R70W's had a problem with the accumulators wearing a ridge in its housing and causing shift problems. Ford fixed it by redesigning the piece out of hard rubber instead of aluminum.

    Why did #5 die?

Very interesting. How was the pulley not 'pulled up' all the way?

    Why did #5 die?

Yeah, the wire is carrying the current from the coil to the plug and causing a good spark. Kinda stumped here. :bang: What about an exhaust blockage?

    Why did #5 die?

Tried posting this in the SVT forum because it has to do with a 4V motor, but not getting any response over there. Hopefully someone over here can help. Okay, what started out as a simple misfire has turned into a friggin' mechanical pergatory. Here's the scoop... -Drivin' along minding my...

    Why did #5 die?

Okay, update: -Put the scope on the injector harness, and it's fine. Got a good, steady pulse on all 8 injectors, so they're firing. -Pulled the valve cover (in 30 minutes might I add, I'm getting waaayyyy too good at taking this engine apart) and I didn't find anything amiss. No broken...

    Why did #5 die?

Okay, what started out as a simple misfire has turned into a friggin' mechanical pergatory. Here's the scoop... -Drivin' along minding my own business, all of a sudden I have a harsh vibration start. I figure I tossed a wheel weight or something, pull over only to discover it's the motor...

    Puffing exhaust?

Compression test didn't turn up anything unusual. Lowest cylinder was 180, highest was 190, so that's about a 5% difference between the lowest and highest cylinders, not too shabby for 114k miles on the motor. Went and cleaned and greased the plug wires again and reassembled, no change in the...

    Puffing exhaust?

Yep, ohm checked the wires, put them back where they're supposed to be, plugs look good, coils were all sparking when I pulled the wires one by one looking for a bad cylinder... I'm gonna run a compression test in a few minutes and see what that turns up. After that I'll pull injectors and...
