Think I blew a head gasket. Could it be intake gasket?

I'll check those gaskets out... Being boosted, is there a certain psi to stay under and be safe? I'm running 12lbs now. Any tips for installing the head studs? Should I use the arp sealer and lubricant? How long should it take me to change my drivers side gasket? Carbed and no...

Think I blew a head gasket. Could it be intake gasket?

I'm carbed... If the intake gasket ruptured, wouldn't water get in the oil then too? I dunno. I'll do a compression test on the drivers side since thats where it might be. Looks like that is the big test. (vomit)

Think I blew a head gasket. Could it be intake gasket?

Started running on 7 cyl. after a 2nd gear pull. I got it home and white smoke out drivers side exhaust and missing on 1 cyl. Before I tear it down, and take my head off, is there any way to tell if the intake gasket is the cause? If it is the head, I'm going to get ARP head bolts and...

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

I drove around the subdivision in 1st gear at about 2200 RPMS (4.10 gears makes that about 10-12MPH) for about 20 minutes. With the fan on, never went about 175-180 degrees. Whoo hoo. I put the alternator on today and it charges wonderfully. I'm gonna clean the car up a bit and take some...

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

Not yet. I don't have a hood on it and my inspection ran out in '05. :) Gotta talk to my friend to make sure everything is safe. LOL

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

No comments??? :) It's stays at about 150 without the thermostat in (at idle) with the fan on.

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

Found it!!!! Before I tell you what it was, I gotta say that I'm embarrassed. It was a blue "shop towell" paper towell stuck in the top radiator hose. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2133210210101022152CjYRto?vhost=good-times I keep getting red 'X' 's when...

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

Thanks. I'm gonna go take the thermy out now and let you guys know what I find. I'm crossing my fingers that it might be the problem. I'll be back.... (dragging knuckles in the direction of the garage)

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

Ok, new news... I ran it today and it went back up to 210 before I shut it down. 1. I'm gonna take the therm out and run it for a while. My buddy also remembers that it never went above 170 at idle with the fan on. I guess the therm could be backwards. I'll let ya know. I might have got...

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

Well, I have a switchpanel with my water pump, fan, fuel pump, ignition. I know the fan and water pump were running because when I shut the engine off, I could hear the fan running, and when I shut the fan off, I could hear the water ump until I turned it off. The wierd part was that the...

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

I have the bend-able metal hoses so won't be squeezing the radiator lines... :) Good idea though. I don't have a thermostat in it because I wanted to get it running and then put it in. However, last year, I could keep the car under 190 except for summer city driving. It would always go...

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

I'll try that tomorrow. So, start it up, run the waterpump, let it get warmed up and keep the radiator full until it starts to push out? Any other tips?

Finally - new motor in, no more oil leaks. But, running warm

Yeah, I drove it home from my buddies shop where he fixed the oil pan leak. Don't ask. Now my concern is that the temp gauge got to 210 by the time I drove 3 miles home from the shop. I have an electric water pump that seems to work fine, there is no garbage in the radiator - it only has...

Cranks, has spark, but no start

It's just a stock rebuilt crate engine. I purchased it when I didn't have alot of money to work with. It's just nice to hear it run again. Now I have to work out the bugs and boy, do I have them: 1. I put a stefs oil pan on and it's leaking at the rear. This sucks, because it's such...

Cranks, has spark, but no start

It started! It was the choke on the carb. Holy crap it sounds good. Now I gotta set the timing and find out why it's running so rich.

Cranks, has spark, but no start

F'ing genius! Why didn't I think of that. I'll let ya know when I get it running otnight if this is the problem. If not, I'm gonna be pissed. :) Thanks! Hey at least the oil pressure is about 25-30lbs just cranking. I did something right.

Cranks, has spark, but no start

I see a pattern here. Damn, it's already in the carb, what to do? Please don't tell me I need to take it apart, replace the bowl gaskets, and put it back together? I just wanna here it run! :) Damn again!
