    96 swap to 5.0

With the money you'll spend on the swap, you might just be able to rebuild the 4.6 with a 5.0 stroker kit or pop in a 5.4. A little investigating would be needed here.

You will lose the ABS function with the 9 inch. The 8.8 can take a ton of power if built up. The big advantage of the 9 inch is the carrier design. You can have several carriers setup with different ratios and quickly (relatively) change between them. If you want a super strong read...

    MSD coil issue!

I do believe that the internals are set in epoxy. A loose outer cover won't hurt anything.

oxy acetylene + control arm (need advice)

Home Depot handles Milwaukee Sawzall blades. Get medium progressive tooth bi-metal blades. They'll work on your DeWalt.

    Convertible top replacement

Has anyone successfully replaced their convertible top? I'm going to need to do it soon as I still am on the original. The top alone is half the cost of having someone do it for me. Any tricks to getting it tight and still latch closed?

    Setting timing

25? Man - no wonder you were having problems. I get pinging at 16 if I don't use 94 octane. I'm at 14 and can run 89 octane with no issues.

    cobra vs gt gas mileage

I find that hard to believe. Besides, gas mileage is so dependent on how you drive, I think that would be difficult to prove. Most 5.0's are modded in some fashion, too.

oxy acetylene + control arm (need advice)

If you're going to rent a torch but already have an air compressor, rent a plasma cutter instead. a 220 unit will rip through 1/2" steel and a 110 unit will handle 3/8". They are much easier to use and will cut through almost anything metal as well. An Oxy-Acetylene torch will only cut steel. it...

    I failed track Tech inspect.

The only real way to do it is by dropping the tank. Make sure you use brass or aluminum tools to knock the retainer off once the tank is dropped. One spark can ruin your day.

The pinging can also be from a bad batch of gas.

    High speed vibration

Take the car in and have the tires rebalanced. It's not too expensive. If that doesn't fix the problem, look at the drive shaft.

    Spark jumping

This is not an idle set screw. There is an idle air bypass screw built into the TB. It's under a plastic cover on the stock TB. I doubt that this is your high RPM miss, but you can easily test it out. Set your TPS back to <1V and see what happens. A more likely problem will be a rocker set too...

    bouncing oil pressure guage

Low oil pressure may be hard to hear but NO oil pressure would very obvious. The valve train would clatter, almost clank, like crazy. Your engine bearings would also be toast. When you're in the engine bay looking for loose grounds, make sure the body to block ground strap is still attached. It...

    Does this sound right?

As a rule of thumb, you should expect at least 1 HP per CID for a NA engine.
