    GT500/GT350: What does it mean?

Legend has it, the 350 was the number of steps between Shelby's office and his shop or something to that effect. The Mustang 350's were all small blocks whereas the 500's had the big block motors but the numbers didn't designated horsepower.

    Trailer hitches part II

The other reason for putting a hitch on a Mustang is for a hitch mounted bicycle rack. That way the rack never touches the paint on the car and the trunk can be opened independently of the bikes on the rack.

Not really a Mustang, but talk nonetheless, 2005 Escape feedback...

And of course, there is a forum for Escape owners: http://ford-trucks.com/forums/

Not really a Mustang, but talk nonetheless, 2005 Escape feedback...

All us stang owners have to have at least one vehicle that is practical. Especially if you have a convertible! Now if only I could figure out how to put an SHO motor into my Tribute! That would ruin the front tires.

Not really a Mustang, but talk nonetheless, 2005 Escape feedback...

I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute (Escape clone) with the V6. If you have a choice go with the FWD instead of AWD. This will give you a bit better gas mileage. I get about the same highway mileage as my 2000 Mustang GT but a bit better in town than the stang. Expect 24 on the highway (my best is...

    Sayonara GTO

Gotta throw in my GTO story here. A couple of weeks ago I was northbound on I-95 in Delaware just south of Wilmington. This is an 4-lane northbound stretch that splits into I-95, I495 or a combination of I-295 and the Jersey Turnpike. Its always congested with idiot drivers trying to figure...

    Pontiac drops the GTO

Apparently, its official. The Goat is dead. It may be the wrong brand but I still hate to see it die. 400 hp is a wonderful thing. http://www.gmplanet.com/pontiac/pontiac_gto_discontinued_1_000604.asp

    Is she a goner?

True story - about 8 years ago I am on a boat off the FL Keys with a group of customers trolling for mahi mahi. Several hours pass in the August sun without a strike, drinking beer is getting very boring and the day is looking like a total bust. The ad exec for our company who came on the trip...

    Is she a goner?

Bananas are considered to bring very bad luck on boats. Maybe they bring bad luck to cars.

    Convertible Roll Bar?

Interesting statistic. Most people buy a SUV thinking they are safe vehicles when in reality they rollover easily killing many drivers and occupants.

    Convertible Roll Bar?

The football player was with the Eagles. His name was Brown and he picked up his ZR1 from a speed shop and promptly sped off and hit a pole at 100+mph. I don't think it was a convertible.

    No Wonder Ford is Hurting!

The GT line is so small I'd bet they could move it to a number of locations. I doubt that closing Wixom is the reason for ending GT production. I haven't heard of plans to stop producing the Town Car.

    No Wonder Ford is Hurting!

Don't be surprised if the GT assembly line is used to produce another limited production car - one that meets 2007 safety standards.

    No Wonder Ford is Hurting!

OK, I'm stumped. You take your car into a dealer from whom you didn't buy the car, they say "no problem" and replace the trim piece at no charge. Now what exactly is it you are bitching about? Was the service too good for you?

Ford to Stop making minivans/huge layoffs

Ford's problem isn't union wages but legacy costs. It takes a lot fewer assemblers to build a car than it did 20years ago but Ford continues to support those earlier employees through their pensions and health care benefits. That was the deal that both Ford and the union agreed to and I admire...

how much to RENEW your plates?

$36 in PA, no personal property taxes here although I remember them being quite popular in the midwest when I lived in IA and IN. What really pissed me off in IA was that the taxes on trucks were very low compared to cars - gotta please the farm lobby.

Just in case you run up against a Taurus

I owned both '89 and '92 SHO's. Best car I ever drove for long high speed trips. Those cars just loved to cruise at 90, great seats too. I sold my '92 with 199,000 miles on it, the engines lasted forever.
