New to forum. Doing restoration 66 Mustang coupe.

That's a 7-3/4" rear, if you want a decent rear go with a 9" . That one is a toy.

65 mustang - disc disc conversion

personal opinion, rear disc is a waste of time. Rear brakes don't do much to stop the car. Are you building a race car or a daily driver? Front disc is a big improvement and so is a booster , but rears don't help much.

Engine Oil on Sparkplug Threads - Misfiring / Hesitation

Oil on the plug threads is probably from the valve cover, not from inside the engine. How about starting with a fresh tuneup, plugs, points, condenser, rotor, cap, wires. New filters . Set the dwell and the timing, adjust the carb and see what you have.

    1966 I-6 head conversion

I haven't altered any 6's yet, but I have a couple coming up if I live long enough, I've been looking at Clifford Performance as a possible direction. ALthough I just took a peak and they don't seem to have too much for the 200. You may want to look for a 250 to start with. It'll get ya 25%...

    Engine 1966 backfire through carburetor

    Engine Trouble

Make sure you can turn the engine over with the fan by hand. If you can you have a low voltage problem either from a low battery or a bad connection. Check battery voltage and if it's good clean all your cable connections at the battery, the solinoid and the starter, and don't forget the grounds.

Climate controll in '66 feedback please!

The stock heater should be fine for winter if it's working properly, the only A/C offered in '66 was underdash, so if you want something that looks better you'll have to go custom.

    Worth the upgrades?

If you're concerned with restored value, keep the old parts. Bolt on items are reversible.

Starter Issues - 68 Stang EFI conversion

Why isn't the battery under the hood where it belongs? Is there room for it now? If there is I would start by moving it back up front and rewiring it back to stock. If there is no room, buy some good 1/0 cable and soldier lugs on it and toss what you have. Oh and run both the "+" and the "-" to...

    1967 289 eng locked up

when you turn it now, does every lifter go up and down for 2 complete revolutions? the only thing that turns half as fast as the crank is the can, lifters, pushrods and valves. has to be there, there is no magical force field. I'm assuming there was no fluid on top of a piston when you pulled...

    1965 Engine replacement choices (cheapest)

If you're after cheap, nobody wants the 200-6, I'll bet there's a few people on here that have one lying around they don't want. And they might have the trans and mounts to go with it. Just Saying...

1966 straight 6 harmonic balancer removal help!!

The biggest problem I have found with stuck bolts is the slack in all the tools. The most rigid tool you can use is a box wrench, NO MOVING PARTS to flex. Make sure it's a good fit, sometimes I even use a metric and drive it on with a hammer to get a better fit. Now if your alone you need to...

    1966. 289 compresśion is dropping

While it's open, and since it has signs of oiling issues in the past I would replace the lifters anyway. No way to tell how they will preform until it's on the road. Eric

    1966. 289 compresśion is dropping

To start with you can't take your compression readings as gospel. There is no way of telling how accurate and consistent your gauge is. If your valves are mushroomed I'd say it had an oiling problem at some point in it's life. If it were mine I would pull the heads and do a valve job, and...

    302-347 engine vibration

OK, before you go nuts, take all the belts off and see if the vibration goes away. That will eliminate everything except the trans and the engine. If that doesn't do it, pull the trans and try again.

upgrade advice for my 64-1/2 convertible

If you are used to newer cars, the biggest difference in the way they feel is radial tires, providing the suspension is all in good condition. If you're building a fun summer ride I would do power front discs, add a panard bar to the rear so you can run radials, and just rebuild the current...

    1966. 289 compresśion is dropping

DO you have good oil pressure? are the lifters noisey when it's running? You may have over tightened the rockers. I'd back it off, and readjust them running. Eric

upgrade advice for my 64-1/2 convertible

You may not like the power steering upgrade, it is a poorly designed system with built in slop. That car should be easy to steer with manual steering if the front end is all in good condition, I would check and repair the existing front end parts and leave it manual steering if it were mine. If...
