    AOD STALL CONVERTOR questions

Should be good. The smaller diameter than the stock 12" will help it spool up faster because of the less weight. If you want to get the most out of your converter, put a tranny cooler on it, less heat will help it live longer. And get yourself some sticky tires. You'll be wasting all that...

Which cooler line is the return on the AOD?

Its only May, bypass the rad for now and hook it up in the winter. You don't want the 180 degree or higher rad warming the trans fluid or the hot trans fluid adding to the rads heavier load with the ac etc.

    Line Lock

I believe Summit sells a Mustang install kit for the Hurst line-loc.

You don't need one but it will defiantely help in tuning. Not a bad investment especialy if you plan on doing more mods in the future

Which cooler line is the return on the AOD?

Bottom one, but you can route the lines any way you want if you are bypassing the rad and just using the cooler

Need some advice on a Tranny cooler

You guys run your Stangs in the winter :nonono: Way too cold up here to do that. The easiest way to plumb the cooler is to remove the lines as they go into the radiator and just slip them fittings and all into the rubber hoses that come with most kits. A couple of hose clamps and your done...

    Boost Cooler??? Anyone tested yet

My brother is putting a system on his Grand National. He's using some off the shelf parts (pump, switches, etc.) based on a friends set up. His friend is running 20+ pounds of boost on his GN with pump gas and GN's are very sensitive to detonation. He uses regular windshield washer fluid with no...

AFR or FTI users - Performer or Performer RPM for FTI combo?

I would say the RPM. I'm building a 331 with AFR 185's and all the goodies. The low end torque loss you might see versus the regular Edelbrock would be very little at best and affects aod cars alot more than stick.

Need help on aod 5.o issues

Adjusting the throttle cable valve won't help much with a sluggish engine. It has more to do with shift points and if done wrong can really mess up your trans. Have a pro do it and avoid any problems. Have you adjusted the tps sensor, could really help with the off idle sluggishness. The rear...

Why is my car soo slow?

I'm guessing that 12.40 car has some serious mods or a power adder. The secret to getting a near stock car cut some decent ets is to get those 60' down. If you check my sig, my car cuts 1.8's 60' and I'm in the 13's with stock h/c/i. Get yours down in that range and I wouldn't be suprised to...

Why is my car soo slow?

Look at your 60'....what kind of junk tires were you running? Or you were spinning BIG time. You should be looking for 60' in the 1.XX's for anything close to a low 14 or 13. Get those times down and watch your et plummet.

Why is my car soo slow?

we're going to need the rest of the timeslip to give you some better answers. I was running in the 15's with my car with the 3.55's in it. The converter allows you to leave at a much higher rpm and with some sticky tires, you get to use alot more of the motors power. Tires and my converter...

Why is my car soo slow?

Converter is the problem, the stock stall is way too low for any good times to be run at the track. Check out my sig for my times and notice that I'm in the 13.8's with not much more than you have. The stall and some ET Streets brought my times down to the 14.1's with 3.55's in the car...

    AOD question

I've got 3.90's and I have plenty of rpm's left at the end of the 1/4. You'll be fine with 3.73's. I believe by your post that you've still got the stock stall. When I had mine I was crossing the line at a little over 4500 because of the lockup in 3rd gear. I was doing the 1-d-1 shuffle so I...

    1993 AOD HELP !!!!!

there should be a small colored gear on the end of the speedo cable. What color is the one on there right now? What color gear did you get with your gears? I doubt you will be able to correct the speedo with those gears since they switched the drive gear inside the tailshaft after 90 I believe...

best torque convertor stall for stock engine?

For street use, the rebuild kit would be perfect. An Eaton or anything else like that would be pure overkill.

best torque convertor stall for stock engine?

I'm definately talking about using the brakes to hold the car. It drives almost like the stock stall unless you use the brakes. I was just trying to tell him that some converters don't really stall to what they are advertised to. The Edge one does, at least mine does.

best torque convertor stall for stock engine?

Highbred; the Edge 3000 stall goes right to 3000 rpm before the car tries to move thru the lights. When Andre tells you it will stall to a certain rpm, it does. If you can get a stock stall to run all the way to 2K rpm before the brakes won't hold it, you're doing better than most guys...

best torque convertor stall for stock engine?

The bigger the trans cooler the better. A trac-loc (posi) rebuild will be way cheaper to get done while you are getting the gears installed. You don't have to buy the fluid and gaskets twice. Highbredcloud says don't get the converter for a stock engine. Well, I had 3.55's in my car with...

best torque convertor stall for stock engine?

I've got a B&M and its been in the car for 10+ years. It shouldn't burn up the trans. But, if I hd to do it all over again I'd have gone with the transgo or a Baumannengineering kit. Much better from all I've heard over the years. Get yourself the biggest tranny cooler you can slide into that...
