I was considering buying a '67 Shelby hood from Mustangs Plus...Any good?

    Timing Q

I know that this subject has probably been posted to death but...I installed my new intake today and while putting the distributor back in I rotated the engine a little bit (obviously too much) and now it won't run (barely) unless it's at full throttle. Should I start by pulling the distributor...

    Rebuild Q

Engine is a '67 289 w/109,000 mi. Still runs strong. Doesn't burn oil. I am noticing ticking while it warms up... seems to get quieter when fully warmed. Car will be for mainly street use, maybe a trip to the strip once a year. Would like to end up with 300-350 hp when I'm done.

    Rebuild Q

What is the best indicator of when an engine needs a rebuild? Compression? Age? Mileage? All of the above?

    How big?

Thanks for all the info, guys. I think I'll just wait on the cam until I get some new heads.

    How big?

I guess what I'm getting at is I would like to have approx. 300 hp (flywheel) with the stock heads. I already have the Air Gap intake w/600 carb and a good exhaust. I plan of getting AFR 165's in a couple of years but I don't know if I should wait to get a different cam then (probably the RPM)...

    How big?

What's the largest lift cam I can put in a 289 with stock heads/pistons? What if I put different springs in the heads?

    Where to get 289 parts?

They are refering to .030". If you were to get it bored out this is how much wider the diameter of the cylinder would be. This would require getting new pistons/rings.

    67 coupe exhaust

I got some Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 series and custom pipes bent all for 350.00. Sounds great and the interior noise level isn't as bad as the regular 40 series...but sounds pretty good when you get on it.

    Nice work!

    notching an intake?

The Air-Gap and the regular RPM have the same height. This is shown on Edelbrock's website. I have a '67 with the Air-Gap and 600 carb and no clearance issues.

    AFR gets my vote.

    shock towers

Thanks, guys. I'll try that and see what happens.

    shock towers

My inner shock tower has a crack in it and needs to be replaced. Has anyone any experience doing this? How difficult is this job and should I replace the other side while I'm at it even though it looks fine?

    Trunk Area

The trunk carpet kit the I mentioned earlier is from Distinctive Industries and is available through Texas Mustang Parts (texasmustang.com). It even has a cover for the spare.

    Trunk Area

I know they make kits that will make your trunk look like a modern style trunk with carpeting and it looks pretty slick. I can look to see what mag I say it in if you want the company's name if you want.

    No turn signals!

All of the sudden my turn signals decided that they didn't want to work any more. The emergency flashers work. I replaced the flasher unit on it. What should I try next?

    rear end

I agree...just get the 9-inch and you'll never have to worry about this again.
