My inner shock tower has a crack in it and needs to be replaced. Has anyone any experience doing this? How difficult is this job and should I replace the other side while I'm at it even though it looks fine?

As long as you are not having any problem keeping an alignment, I would do what the other suggested. I had that on my 67, 2 hairline cracks on each shock tower. I just welded them up and also added reenforced the towers with some 3/16th stock. That was 5 years ago and have had zero issues since.

Mine were too bad to weld up, so I replaced them both. It took 8 hours for the first one, and about 4 for the second one, with the car up on a roticery. It wasn't that hard, just time consuming. If you need more details, let me know.

Engine has to be out, of course, but it could be done on the ground. It was just much easier to weld up all the spot welds while the panels were level.

I agree: if at first, welding don't succeed, then try the alternative.

Good luck!
