    sorry I missed all the replies, i have been at work. It is raining right now but I am going to mess with the car in the morning. Hopefully it is something to do with the timing. I installed the cam straight up (dot to dot), it is a ford racing chain/set 3 key. I will let you guys know tommorrow...

    I checked that too and it is correct. I cant think of anything else that would cause this. the only things i changed on the top end from my previous combo were the lifters, springs, pushrods, and cam. And I shimmed the rockers w/ .030 shims since I had the heads milled .040 to bump compression...

    Is .040 over too much on a 5.0L ?

    Keep old roller lifters or buy new?

    I am rebuilding my 5.0, it will have ported heads, ported edelbrock perf RPM, x-cam, 70mm TB, 150 shot nitrous, and all the supporting hardware,6500 rpm max. My question is, should I reuse my roller lifters or by new ones? If I reuse how can I tell if they are still good?
