    The BA motor (turbo) is fairly different to the earlier ones IIRC. I think it has some sort of VVT or VCT or something... I have a technical magazine somewhere with the details... I'll see if I can dig it up. Plenty of people have made big hp turboing the older motors though.

    I got rid of a set of their rockers and replaced them with crane golds due to poor machining tollerances. No idea about their timing gear.

    Is there any particular motor your want? The slightly earlier n/a 6's cos very little while the turbos bring a premium. You should be able to get it shipped for less than 1k USD. I air freighted a tko600 setup from the states for less so sea freight of an engine should easily be under 1k.

    tremec of some sort or an auto on the turbo models. Pretty sure t56 is possible. They changed manual boxes mid way thru the more recent production runs. There are a few engine+gearbox+ecu+misc setups for around 7k in local papers.

    Are you talking XR6 or XR6 turbo motor? The turbo motor is a lot more desirable at the moment, but I still would have thought 9k is a bit much. Have a look on ebay.com.au too as they sometimes crop up there

    Australian made cylinder heads, any good ?

    I doubt theyre made in oz. Our $ is nearly the same as yours now and any mfg would be hard pressed to produce heads at that price in oz. As an example a new set of valves, guides and seats would cost around $500-600 US incl machining to be put in stock heads.

    Vibration in 4th... do you get it in 5th too? It could be a speed dependant driveshaft angle issue. I did a check to see if the engagement was having an effect anyway. I unbolted the drive shaft from the diff and checked the play in the gearbox at various engagement depths - see this video...

    Go a bit richer on the metering rods. Sounds like youve got a part throttle lean spot. Also try the other positions on the pump shot to see if either one helps you. I've had similar problems to you with this carb and tuned them out with a combination of the above.

    Thats a pretty good ET for 2.80 gears! Have a look at the hp db below and see if theres something similar to your combo in there.

    Pump shot is adjusted using the little lever at the front drivers side of the carb. It has 3 small holes through it. Closer in will give you more shot, further out will give you less. You might also want to look at your metering rods or step up springs.

    I'm running that pump too with a dyno proven 250rwhp so no I dont think that will be an issue for you.
