    Two questions

The chrome valve covers and air cleaner were standard on the K Mustangs. The intake is a standard 4 bbl iron intake used on the A code cars, The carb however is unique to the K Mustang - a 600 cfm Autolite 4100 with a manual choke and other unique features. These are rare, hard to find and very...

    Can a 66 C-code Mustang be a GT ??

All factory 65/66 GT's were A or K codes. It's likely the GT styling parts were added by PO's or could have been added on by the dealer as this was very common back then. Some key things to look for that are rarely added to GT wannabe's are: Reinforced floorpan exhaust hangers - just pull...

    Emissions in CT

Agree with the second post. A visual check for cats is part of the procedure and the substantual cost and penalties for any of these independant shops to fudge a test is not worth their while - why not just put a cat pipe on it for the test? Many of my friends with off road pipes do this.

    What type of muffler?

I have had Dynomax Super Turbo's, Ultra Flo's and Flowmaster 40's on my 65 K code and I love the Flowmasters, they just sound the best to my ears. I also have 40's on my 87 LX. Most aftermarket mufflers have their own unique sound and it is just a matter of what sounds best to you. $69.95 is a...

    Tire sizing for 90 Gt

I have 17x8 and 17x9 AFS Cobra R knock offs on my 87 LX with 235-45's on the front and 255-45's out back. No rubbing issues of any kind and the quads are still in place

    New rims for Murphy

Go with the 15" rim - you will be glad you did. The standard back spacing on these is 3 3/4" which is what I have on my 65 coupe with 215-65-15 T/A's. Looks very good and fits fine on my car.

The Longer I Own My Car.................

The happier I am that I have resisted the urge to do any serious mods to the car. It is a black 87 notch that I bought new and have owned for longer than some of the stangnetters here have been alive (21 years). I has 50K original miles, has always been garaged, never seen winter and has been...

Are you gonna drive the 'Stang even though the gas is $$$$$ ?s

Both of my Mustangs are used for shows, cruises and the occasional pleasure ride only and are typically driven 1,000 to 1,500 miles each year. Gas could (and probably will be) $5.00 per gallon and my driving schedule will not change. The good driving weather season here is short and the cars...

    What to do with a 64 1/2 "D" code 4 speed car?

What you want to do to this car will not require you to cut or hack up the car to do. Build it the way you want it and just properly store the parts that you are removing. You will have the car you want and it can be put back to original easily, if that is ever desired.

    64.5 Convertible "K" Code

Yes there are 64.5 K codes out there - true all were titled as 65's. There is one white/red interior convertable here in Connecticut that I see once or twice a year at shows and it is an early June 64 car. The owner has great documentation that he shows with the car, There is also a gold 64.5 K...

need help with a car cover

Not sure what year your car is, but one of those quick on and off cowl covers would stop the leak problem while the car is sitting and are pretty inexpensive. Agree with not using a true waterproof cover - a car cover needs to breath to let any moisture under the cover evaporate

    Hurst Shifter?

Have had one in my 87 notch for years. EZ to install and works just fine. I use a Hurst oversized knob on mine which (to me anyway) has a much better feel than the smaller white one that comes with the shifter.

    My turn for a rant....

I find the many variants of the new Mustang to be interesting and seeing 600+ HP avaliable from the from the factory with a warranty, is increadible and something I could not have never imagined not so many years back. That being said, I have no real desire to own one, even if I could afford it...

Value of Used original fenders ('65-'66)

I have a pair of very nice, rust free 65 front fenders that would need only very minimal touch up prior to painting and installation. I would not consider anything less than $450 for the pair if I actually wanted to sell them (which I do not). Pretty much anyone who has ever tried to make the...

Finally got the '65 to the track

There are lots of cars running mid 12's at 107 - 108 mph. A very good friend has a 70 Chevelle that runs 12.50's at 107 with a 1.80 60ft time. Your 113 mph trap speed shows that all you need to do is get the car launced and hooked up to run the number.

    Tire dressing

Been using Stoner More Shine Less Time aerosol for years. Great stuff, spray on one coat for a matte finish and two for a gloss. Also lasts longer than any other tire dressing I had previously used.
