Progress Thread Jewel Green street/strip 92 LX progress thread

My annual update. Finally started the car this weekend after sitting all winter, spring, summer, fresh oil change. Drive from my moms to my house no problem. Yesterday decided to do a cruise with me and the wife. Get there and engine has a noticeable rattle at a idle. Thinking it is...

By looking at the difference in the disc, the lower are a ceramic pucks which will be more aggressive, while the upper looks like a organic material. Realize it's all about surface area on clutch lockup the lower disc will hold more lbs per square inch but act more grabby. If both are rated the...

Mike, I would step back and rationalize your purchases. You swap powertrain and transmissions at a drop of a hat, let alone accessories. I guess if your having fun cool but then you come on here and b$tch when they don't work, so that leads me to believe your not. Just telling it like it is. Scott

Reminds me of a story I heard long ago...build build and keep building! https://www.amusingplanet.com/2016/11/winchester-mystery-house-house-that.html?m=1 You should just buy a dedicated race car already. I think, on this rare instance a race car would actually be cheaper.

Just remember the wrap will be done twice at least as the first time it will be too much of whatever or miscommunication. The second will be well that was not what I wanted either. The third will be just right and by this time you will be kicker yourself on why you didn't just paint the car...

Oh Mike your so predictable! On another note thinking about your time out. I do enjoy the days gone by of reading when you first joined your racing stories. Do you know that is 10 years ago now since you joined? You have such a knack at story telling and a way with words. Your a great...

    Let’s talk gasoline -

My car seems to run fine on 93 at 10% ethanol it usually has a touch of leaded fuel 1/2-3/4 gal per fillup to raise octane lube addiitive. With the ethanol once tuned, your egt's runs cooler and less chance for detonation.

I guess welcome back! I thought you deleted the thread or got Covid or something? Kind of glad you can't edit your threads they are in Mike's original form. You have to remember to think it through just like your builds instead of redoing it twice or 5 times  !

    1992 foxbody throttle cable

Yeah take you outer guts to a shop that makes snow plowing cables and have them make a new inner cable. You will find the right shop has the right ends and and will crimp them to the point it will never come off.

Looking good as always Mike! What did you end up using for brake fluid? I think I went to DOT 3 if I remember correctly. Everything was new/rebuilt and lines were blown out.

Yes looks like from what I can tell from here the ground strap on #4 that was deffinently in a slight orange state at one point. That color indicates a tremendous amount of heat seen at the plug tip. #1 from I can see is only showing white so might not be as bad. I would be replacing that...

Progress Thread Hoopty v2.0 - It All Snowballed

Not really! I locked my keys in my rusty 85 in college security used a slim jim between the glass and belt molding to grab the lock knob linkage. I'm not sure the molding faired well but I didn't care to much as the car was pretty rough. My 92 now has a Viper alarm more for the fob and hatch...

    5.0 Pandemic build

I have used Crankshaft Craftmens before. Something seems off here .018 gap min on top and .020 second? Now usually they are tighter on the second with less heat exposure to the second ring, ring material can also play a factor. Please consult ring manufacturer or your machine shop, it would...

It seems like you should be able to find a 6" with the banjo end already on it? That would eliminate a connection!

I certainly appreciate all the attention to detail and to bad on the calipers. But not crazy about the MC and lines, they don't really match the rest of the car. Especially since you are all about OEM.
