Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Welding Holes in My Rear

OH MY GOD!! The roller coaster of emotions in this thread!! I had to catch up on quite a few pages. First of all, I'm so sorry about your brother, Dave. I'm all too familiar with what cancer does to loved ones. You and you family are in my prayers...especially with your wife's recovery...

Coming along nicely, Jeff!! Those TF 205 11R heads are gonna work great! I'm an AFR kinda guy myself but those 11Rs make power! You're gonna need to hang the laundry off the back of that thing, man. I just got back from TX2K18...laundry on the back of street cars seems to be pretty common...

Build Thread 1978 Mercury Cyclone. The pig is in the pen.

Mike I was gonna go crazy and say I think you'e gonna accidentally get it right on the first try. But then @jrichker came in and said the rod is machineable with "quality tools". At that point I had to come to my senses. So I'm gonna go with the usual 3 time's the charm. *size note* when I...

Mike, you've got at least 2 more times to start over before we condemn the car to "it'll never run again". :rlaugh::runaway:

I know what you're going thru Dave. I have had so many family members suffer with cancer and the treatments. Just found out another family member has terminal cancer(pancreatic). They gave her about a year. Its tough. Im kinda glad I'm in the line of work I'm in. It helps me cope with suffering...

Build Thread My First Notch Build Thread - Remember me?!

Yeah, its a combination of reasons why mine looks like that. 1. Sub-par body work on the radiator supprt area 2. Hood fitment due to not adjusting the hood hinges good enough 3. I had to adjust the stops all the way up just to reduce the amount of play in the hood....did I mention sub-par body work?

Build Thread My First Notch Build Thread - Remember me?!

Hey guys, remember me?:D Well its that time of year again....getting ready to go to TX2K. Why is it that every year around this time me and my buddies have to scramble to fix or install things on our cars RIGHT before its time to go? Here's my current adventure/headache. I had been having an...

I feel like I've been absent from school(this thread) for too long. I was so far behind!! It took me 3 days to catch-up. I think I was 10 pages behind in the progress of the thread. I had to read almost everything @xecute posted a few times before I understood it but it was very...

    Has Drag Racing Changed?

Yeah, even in street racing it takes money, a lot of time wrenching and testing, and dedication. There are a lot of guys that practically live at "Tha Pad" here in NOLA. They make and spend a lot of money out there. I don't have that kind of money or time. But I will make an appearance...

I was gonna say that. BMWs sell themselves just like Mercedes and all the other high-end competitors. So you won't have to do too much BSing to make the sale. The hours would be the only major "con" to all the possible "pros". But I agree with @hoopty5.0 take the job based on what you're willing...

    Has Drag Racing Changed?

Yeah, bracket racing is more calculating than racing...in my opinion. That's why I like street racing or no class heads up racing. The only calculation is "run what you brung and hope you brung enough."

    Has Drag Racing Changed?

I like heads up racing. I never did like bracket racing. I've never actually competed in any of the races at the track. All I do is test-n-tune. Me and my buddies normally settle our grudges then too.

Well DAMN!!! So are you going to let him do the work or take it elsewhere...since he didn't own the f up and make it right without question from the jump? What are your other options for reputable machinists in your area?

Are there any companies out there that make bullets main caps for that block? Just thinking about more strength for more boost.:eek::eek:

So the only thing that was really "wrong" with the engine was the ring gaps and not so much the rings themselves? So are we thinking it could have survived more boost if you wouldn't have decided to do a refresh? Well, better safe than sorry.
