    Correct me if I am wrong here guys but the stock rims are 17x9 ....you can't put anything bigger then a 295 on those and I heard that a 295 puts a lot of stress on the side wall.....if you want 315's i'm 90% sure you would have to upgrade to some deep dish tires or just a 17x10.5 doesn't have...

    Yea, I snapped the drive shaft yolk connecting to the rear end, I also blew off the diff cover, My understanding was that the yolk always snapped when the rear diff locked up, however it spins freely. So I have no idea as how I managed to destroy the rear diff cover and also break the drive...

    What I should have done was keep my 04 GT but thats besides the point, I am in my current predicament and I have come to terms with it. Whats important know is that I A. fix the car B. Do it right and either fix the rear end, do ALL preventative measures to assure this will NOT happen...

    Just wanted to say thanks to everyone posting in here and giving me feedback so far, stangnet is full of great members and along with these great members comes great knowledge and first hand experience. Supposidly they are having another person come out and look at my car tomorrow :(

    Can I use the drive shaft from the 00-04 GT as well? I have heard the swap is rather easy, but i'm still in need of a drive shaft and not to sure on that.... ....doing stupid amounts of research now on rear ends, also the 00-04 GT's came with limited slip....do I reuse my diff? is the diff...

    OP: Were drag slicks and a high-RPM clutch dump involved? Or wheel hop/axle tramp? No there was no slicks or high RPM clutch dumps involved. There was maybe a 1/8 of a second wheel hop, then a horrific POP.... Its sitting at my mechanic now and the rear diff seems to be intact and just...

    Not your typical exhaust question.

    I always hear the term "axle back" in the import world, i've never really heard it on the domestic scene until recently, I always thought that the Catback and Axle back where the same thing.....they both connect after midpipe correct?
