Am I going through withdraw?

Its been almost a month and a half since that fateful day at the track. I know I was depressed, but I went from daily driving my 04 Cobra for the summer, to what I now call the lance-anator which is my dad's 165 HP beast! (09 Lancer). For the first few weeks I kept leaning into it, waiting to feel that pull, waiting to catch just a brief second of that whine, but then it would hit me, i'm driving a silly old 4 cylinder Thou I am grateful to get from point A to B. Its just not the same, and I think i've grown way to attached to my car this past year

Now with this last beautiful weekend coming to a close, and still no car. I feel really depressed , all my buddies are going on what we are sure to be the LAST cruise of this year. They all offer me to drive their cars (GTs) but its just not the same. Wondering if anyone else ever really felt this way about their car, or if I just love that thing too dam much!

Just venting a bit, tossing my man feelings out there.....take them as you will

do you still have the car and are in the process of rebuilding it? i wasnt really active on the boards at the time and i looked back at your thread history and found the post from last night but it did not give mention to the overall status of the car, possession wise.

Yea, I know how you feel. For the last 2 years of high school for me (the past 2 years), I went to a public residential high school (2 hrs from home) that didn't allow cars. So I would sometimes go for over a month and not be able to drive or even see mine. I was the same way. And mine is just a little ole' barely 200 hp NPI GT.

When I went home, first thing I normally did was just go cruising round, normally for an hour or more. But, look on the bright side. You will appreciate the car even more once you get it back!

You should just be happy to have something to drive... and a practically new 2009 anything at that. Seriously, just be happy to have something to drive that isn't a rental which you are paying out the nose for.

However, I would be happy to make some more cheap passes in my 88. I haven't driven it since I limped it home from the track with a cracked block in July. I'm still working on getting a replacement shortblock to swap in for more cheap fun. Should be back together for the spring though.

don't sweat it. You have to pay to play. Anybody that races or drives hard, especially with an IRS, has likely broken rear end. You need to figure out what is exactly causing your situation if you are hopping around. Might be bushings, might be something else. Lots of factors in wheel hop.

I broke mine a couple of weeks ago. Fully built RPM Rear End will be here Monday. Just a good reason to upgrade. Good luck on the fix!

I'm unsure as to what happened to your car but breaks do happen when it comes to cars---just have to come back stronger and better than before. Sucks being down however

Nightfire, I feel I can only say I feel a good amount of your pain But its still a point A to point B mode of transportation and thats whats important.

This is what happened

As I mentioned previously I am grateful to have a car to get from point A to point B. Even thou its a 2009 its a base model, nothing to really brag about But it beats the shoe lace express thats for sure

Sneaky98gt I am sure I will get a nice long drive in when I get her back , but it still won't be the same cruising in 45 degree weather as opposed to 75

Winters98GT I saw your thread, and let me start by saying that is one sweet vett, not being much of a vett man myself, i'll admit I like your car, but SHHHH don't tell anyone Thou your video tore me up a little on the inside and my initial response was seeing as how I just got through with that whole experience. However, I have learned much about IRS in the past month, and plan to focus more so on suspension and tires, and less on raw power for the time being. A car may have oodles of power, but its only good for what it can actually put down to the ground right? At least thats the way I see it

I'll be sure to include pics of the rear end as soon as I get the car back, should be getting it sometime later this week, then i'll go revive my old thread

Thanks man! My out look is the same as yours now. I have enough power, for the time being and should be able to run mid 11's when it is back together. Rather than try to go faster, I will be focusing on the parts that are weak so that I can limit the chances of another "WTF did I break now?" moment.

Have you figured out what happened? It looks like you will need a complete new rear end and drive shaft. My new rear just got here today. I have not opened up the stock one to see how bad it was, but your breaking must have been much more violent than mine. And mine broke hard, though the video really does show it.

i feel your pain, i go a month at a time without my stang on a regular basis. ( i work 30 days on 30 off, offshore)
