    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

Crap… Test drive, picked up a new heater core… Get back and something is smoking. Trans fluid is burning off on the exhaust. Rapid dripping of trans fluid on the ground. Sounds like front transmission seal is pretty common leak on these? How likely am I to be able to pull it off in my...

    Corbeau lowering seat mount?

https://lmr.com/item/CS-D828TL/mustang-corbeau-double-locking-low-profile-seat-track I have a corbeau seat, from years ago. It always sat pretty high. Saw this seat mount and I’m curious… Anyone use it? How much head room did you really gain? Any other options out there?

    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

Long term, it will be daily driver/project car I have a turbo and a volvo 4v head laying around. My previous 87 2.3 LX, had been converted to coil pack ignition, using a v8 ecu, tuned of course…. Will probably reuse that, which should mean any trans is an option… Right now, it needs to get me...

    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

I don’t notice it downshifting, or shifting ever for that matter. Runs smooth… Found the attached in a diagnostic manual, suggests tps or converter clutch solenoid No codes for tps, but I’ll voltmeter it just to be sure…

    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

So it still stalls coming to a stop. When putting it in D, it feels pretty harsh too. Koer codes were egr/evp. No Koeo codes I’ve been putting it in neutral when coming to a stop, putting it back in drive once stopped, and don’t get any stalls. I would prefer to get some miles on this car...

    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

Well, this is embarrassing. Fluid level was low. Had it checked off on my checklist, but here we are…. Took almost 2 quarts… It is engaging as it should. Will have to drive it a little to see if fluid level maintains, and see if the stalling issue comes back. Spilled a ton of trans fluid on...

    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

Thanks guys! Well, didn’t have time to look at it after work. This morning, the shifter moves free, but trans was slow to engage, or wouldn’t engage reverse and drive. When it does engage, it engages hard. Called in sick of work, so I’ll have some time today to look at it… Idle is good, and...

    1989 n/a 2.3 auto - stalling issue

I just got this thing running again, after several years parked. It has stalled a couple times, coming to a stop. Runs great otherwise, smooth, no miss, perfect. Always restarts immediately. Don’t know much about autos, so been wondering what could cause it there? Not disengaging the way...

Engine Valve cover/ intake studs and other stuff

That is an impressive report out, from the injector guy!

Digital Tuning Anyone know this Superchip?

I don't know that unit specifically, but the early days of efi tuning involved using resistors inline with sensors like the temperature coolant and intake air temperature sensor, to artificially increase the timing. It of course affected fuel tables as well. Basically, they made the ecu think...

I'm the New Guy!!! 1993 5.0 HO w/AOD Trans. in a '35 Ford panel truck

It was too long ago for me to remember exactly what pulley I was using. But I did change it a couple times...

I'm the New Guy!!! 1993 5.0 HO w/AOD Trans. in a '35 Ford panel truck

Sorry to come in late, but I ran one of those large output alt's for several years on a fairly stock 302. Damn near any time I hit the rev limiter, that alt would fail. Just missing an aggressive shift would kill it. It was costing me about $100 to repair it, and I did that every 6mo or so...

    speed density to MAF A9L

That is Old School! If that is the ecu you removed, then it shouldn't affect how the car is running now. I would suggest pulling codes, and doing a part number check for the injectors and the MAF housing/sensor. That setup should not need a tune, so most likely something is off, either a part...

Engine Correct MAF For 1993 Cobra X3Z ECU

How confident are you in the F1SZ number? My notes are that the 93 Cobra used an F1SF sensor... but I've forgotten damn near everything I once knew... I don't recall how to break down the Ford engineering numbers anymore either, so it could be that F1SZ is directly interchangeable with F1SF?

Engine Correct MAF For 1993 Cobra X3Z ECU

If a parts supplier says the GT/LX 5.0 used the same MAF housing and/or MAF Sensor as the 93 Cobra, then their database is WRONG. Try checking on RockAuto, they usually have the correct part number/application, from my experience anyway... The 'correct' sensor for a 70mm Ford housing, with an...

'89 LX Forged 347 in Need of Advice (Fuel & ECU)

I'm sure that is a great system. My point was just that you may already have a MOATES quarterhorse chip in the car... which would mean for a couple hundred (don't recall exactly, but 200 to 300 sounds right), you could load software on a laptop that would allow you to retune the existing chip...

'89 LX Forged 347 in Need of Advice (Fuel & ECU)

It may be that the chip that is in the ecu right now, is programmable. Maybe all you need is a software purchase and you can retune using a laptop... I would drop the ecu to see what kind of chip it has and go from there. 30's should be just fine, but you have a calibrated MAF, and an unknown...

    Stock IRCM with Taurus fan

Trying to get the na 89 2.3 running, its been a couple years... The stock fan was running slow, I could spin it with my finger and it would pick up speed, and eventually slow again. It was pretty warm, so the fan should have been commanded full on. I have a fan from a Taurus I pulled years ago...

    Engine Found problem but!!

Unplugging the MAF puts the computer into closed loop control, meaning the ecu is using look up tables for fueling, and guessing at what the airflow actually is. Unplugging the MAF does not provide any reliable data regarding how the MAF itself is working. The best it can do is confirm that...

MAF wasnt plugged in when bought.

Those are pretty common for emissions having been removed. Check for vac leaks and lines that were disconnected, but not plugged... How long did you run it? Did the miss go away after running a little while? Get worse?
