    Umm... Gas pedal grinding!?

    The car is a 5-speed. I had my friend climb underneath and he seems dead-set on the sound coming from the catalytic converters. There is a leak on the driver's side cat, and it has been getting a bit worse. Would a lot of exhaust gas through the car cause a loud grinding noise potentially?

    I have heard nothing but good things about... The Dart Block... The D.S.S. Stroker kit. Ask Sirsureshot about this, he's got a DSS 331 and I bet its meaner than a lunchlady with PMS.

    Hmm... The ONLY fault with that thought is that the noise is coming from the area of the transmission/catalytic converters. Could that bearing still be the sound?

    I actually considered that. However, it does the same sound in neutral with the clutch out, so I kind of dismissed the clutch thought. Is it still a possibility? Hmm... Throttle cables can grind? I'm not doubting your knowledge; I was just totally unaware of that.

    I'll certainly second that. I don't believe there are different weights of ATF, and if its red, odds are that it IS ATF. So sadly, I can also give you a pretty good guess that the sounds aren't being caused by your fluid.

    Ok, here goes: Drain plug is right on the transmission, just look around and you'll see it. There are two plugs, one of them higher on the transmission than the other. Obviously the higher one is used for filling while the lower one is for draining. Do yourself a favor. Pull the fill plug...

    :lol: That's only funny because it's so, so true. The moral of the story? Sell your cars and your tools, ride a 10-speed and take up stamp collecting. :rlaugh: You'll avoid a lot of aggravation that way.

    On my 5.0 (just ran out and checked) the bolt head is in on the firewall side and the bolt threads point toward the fan.
