    Long Tubes and T5s

Quick question - Way back when I was working at the Jiffy Lube in this area we had a very built 306-powered blown Mustang come in for tranny fluid, and I seem to remember there being a problem with his Long-Tube headers getting in the way of the fill or maybe the drain plug. Does anyone have...

    Gear Lube T-5 Question

Heh... Good idea asking this question man. My mechanic put 75w-90 gear lube in mine without any knowledge of it (I trust the man as a rule, he felt like a complete idiot) and I drove it for two months. Now 5th makes some weird noises and all the gears grinded a little. Thankfully I was able...

    removing pulley off 3G

Oh, the misery and the woe... It's true, it's true. :damnit: :D I would personally buy the socket. Just because you'll never know if you'll need it again, or if maybe one of your friends or family needs it you can help them out.

    Slick 50....

I wouldn't run Slick 50. I myself used to be a Jiffy Lube employee and I never, ever saw any kind of quality result from the product. I agree with HISSIN50 on this one completely - If you want a better fluid, flush that old stuff out and get some synthetic.

    Its finaly time....almost

I'd like to help you out man but my long block is all stock so I have no real experience with what parts are good quality and which one's aren't. TTT for the man's almost-ready engine build.

    BIG Block : Small block

I believe the manufactureres determined whether or not an engine was a big block or not. Example: Pontiac's 350, 400 and 455 are all based on the same block. It is a large block with a large deck height, very similar is size to a Chevrolet 396 (Big Block). However, they are most often called...

    300 RWHP and over

Anyone have comparison numbers between the TFS H/C/I and the Holley Systemax H/C/I? I'd be curious to see which H/C/I combos are currently the most potent street setups, considering my H/C/I is all bone-stock and I'm looking for a setup.

331 or 347 stroker? pros and cons?

Stroking to a 306 only adds 4ci of displacement.. Does anyone have any opinions on whether or not this is even worth the money? Would a 306 have a noticeable power advantage over a 302? Well, with a .030 over its a 308, but who's counting :D

How to tell if they're 3.73s

Yeah, I have to do this myself still. I was actually told 4.10s, I am at 2600RPM at about 70, and all the math works out, including the SOTP feeling. But I never confirmed it for sure.

    Umm... Gas pedal grinding!?

Well, is sounds like its coming from circa the transmission. That was my first concern, but it makes the noise in all gears including neutral. To make matters worse, my low beams won't turn on as of last night (right before work). The grinding noise is really, really worrying me. Never heard...

Anyone in Northern CT got some spare time?

Heya guys. I followed your advice, and it turns out the problem was directly due to a bad plug wire. :hail2: Thanks fellas, I appreciate all the good advice. Still idling weird but it runs and drives and actually has balls again. Yay! But now, another weird problem...

    Umm... Gas pedal grinding!?

ok.. I've been having a lot of issues with my power. I discovered that I had a bad spark plug wire, replaced it and now my horsepower is mostly back. I would like to see if its fully back but my car makes the oddest grinding sounds I've ever heard. Whenever I press the gas pedal down past...

    Crazy IDLE. NEED HELP!

:damnit: Ugh... It sounds to me like you might need a new MAF sensor, if those symptoms are occuring and it is throwing that code at you still.. Tough to say, though. Oh, and check your hyphenufenator valve. Sometimes that helps. :bs:

    Which car?

Indeed I have seen used kits go for $1000-$1500. Not too bad, especially if you know your stuff. I know its not cheap, but I was attempting to compare it to the price of turbochargers and whatnot that would be needed to make an average 4cyl car compete with a blown Mustang.

    Clicking SOund Driving me nutz

So far we have 3 major possiblities (assuming its a manual transmission). I would check them in this order: 1. Exhaust. Go through your headers and on your collector/midpipe connections and tighten all of the bolts up. Check for cracks. If that doesn't work... 2. Throwout bearing. If...

331 or 347 stroker? pros and cons?

Stroker kits provide a larger displacement, and thus more horsepower and torque. However, larger stroker kits like the 347 decrease engine component life due to the great deal of piston travel. I have seen 347s that burn oil noticably after 10,000 miles, so you take a risk with a stroke. The...

    Which car?

You can get an R-block 302 that will probably support as much power as you need. The sky really is the limit with a 302. You can get a bunch of boltons and a blower and run 12s EASILY on street tires, and its not that expensive considering you don't even have to open up the engine. Bang...

    Gone to the other side..

I gotta be honest. I wanted to stay SD for a long time, but recently I have seen really, really nice h/c/i/forced induction engines and for that, a MAF is the way to go. The install is really that easy? I guess I should just buy from Ford and skip the junkyard assembly.
