ARP main studs hit oil pump! help

As long as all the threads are fully engaged in the nut you can cut off the end of the stud. Any threads that stick out above the nut are not really needed.

    installing a new oil pan

This is how much extra room you have under the engine with a tubular K member compared to a stock k member. With the K member gone you have complete access to the oil pan. It is more difficult to install a pan gasket upside down but is done everyday.

rear ctrl arms, spherical or poly, adjustable or not?????

I used delrin in my leaf springs on my 68 to replace the aluminum bushings. The delrin is a very tough plastic and does not transmit noise like the aluminum bushings. The aluminum bushings are very noisy on the street. My 93 lowers have a sperical bearing on one end and ploy on the other end. I...

picked up a 68 coupe the other day...

They sell patch panels for about every section of a 68 so you can test out your welding skills. Try all the big Mustang parts houses like NPD, ect. Good Luck

Cheap street/strip drag springs for the rear

I have the Moroso's as well. I tried the air bag route in addition to the trick springs and it was a waste of money as far as correcting the body lean during a hard launch. The stock springs with an Anti roll bar seemed to cure all the bad launch issues at the track.

    Turbo 400

I put a turbo 400 in my FJ40 Landcruiser many years ago (close to 20 years) and it has worked very well. I remember having a hard time finding one since they quit making them in the 80's. I would go with a C4 because of the plentiful parts.

    installing a new oil pan

That's pretty close......I did not remove the fan or shroud or the trans bolts. I used a cherry picker to hold the engine in place. The k member is held on by eight bolts (four on each side) I left the spindles in place still attached to the struts but removed the rotors to get better access to...

Fuel Pump ?'s How many GPH?

Sorry that was a typo it should of been 120/6.2 to convert to 19 gal/hr. I run a Carter "black" electric fuel pump in my race car and it has about 700 HP at the flywheel so a 100 gph fuel pump is plenty for my combo.

Transgo Shift Kit Manual Valve Body?

Make sure you tell them the year of your transmission because a 68 is different than the 70 and up and some parts like the valve body won't interchange w/o major mods. I just upgraded my 68 C4 (already had on hand) to racing duty and if I could start over I would of bought a 70 and up C4 from...

    Major Holly S#$%!

The little screws that hold the throttle plates on should be "peened over" from the factory so they can't fall out from vibration. If someone took them out and replaced them w/o locktite or peening them they could come loose and fall out. The chip at the top of the cylinder should not hurt...

Fuel Pump ?'s How many GPH?

    Basic formula for determing GPH for fuel pump = BSFC (brake specific fuel consumption) 0.4 (N/A carb) X 300 HP (HP @ flywheel) = 120 lbs/hr 120 / 6.2 (one lbs of gas) = 19 gal/hr

is this normal? (just checking to see how stupid i am)

I would take a heavy duty wire wheel and clean off all the surface rust first than re-evaluate it again. You might discover a whole lot of pin holes that you don't see now. As far as the flexing goes......most people don't stand up onto the floor pans when driving down the road (at least in this...

Installed new K Member now have issues......

I installed a new AJEracing K member (which did not impress me with the quality), and it moved the steering shaft into the side of the header tube. I have read all the past posts for this condition and it mentioned loosening the steering column and moving it over, but it did not say what...

    Question about valve guide seals

Teflon does not wear well and its temp rating is about 450 degree F to -300 degree F. Viton is designed for higher heat applications (about 400 degree F to -31 degree F) and wears a lot better but does not seal as well in the colder temps. Some kits do not put seals on the exhaust side as stated...

    WELD Backspacing HELP

I take it that the wheel spacer was used to move it away from the inner fender that you were beating on and which than moved it under the edge of the fender lip? Does this mean you must use a wheel spacer to get it to work? What is the thickness of your spacer?

Looking for a GOOD Aluminum Hyd. floor jack

A well made jack should last forever........and have at least a 30% safety margin over it's rated lift capacity. I guess I will stick with the "Made in USA" heavy steel models and not pick it up by hand.
