    Chrome or polished aluminum?

I may be replacing my valve covers and was wondering the pros/cons where to chrome as opposed to polished alum. I have Edelbrock Elites now and have found them a pain to keep looking great, mostly because of the ribs in them. This time I'll get plain covers. I think chrome has a higher luster...

    Rag Joint alignment

That worked! Just pulled down on the end of the column and done. Got the steering box in and connected to the column. Put the new pitman arm and idler arm on. Tomorrow the new tie rods go on! I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but I'm excited to have the car not steer like an old...

    Rag Joint alignment

That's possible but I did try to pull it towards the rag joint without success. I'll double check that when I check the shaft length in the am. A friend suggested that I should loosen the column and see if I can mate it to the rag joint and tighten it back up again. Does that sound reasonable...

    Rag Joint alignment

Yep, went on straight forward like you said. For some reason though after I bolted the new box up, the rag joint was about 3/4" from where it bolts to the steering column. The numbers on the old and new boxes match so it should be the same. I tried moving the rag joint forward on the box...

    Rag Joint alignment

I'm replacing the manual steering box on my '70 and was wondering what the best way to make sure I put the rag joint on the new box to keep the steering properly centered. Any help would be great. Also, I'm replacing the pitman arm but couldn't remove the old one from the old box on the car...

    225/60R15 on a '65 vert?

I'm not sure where he's getting the wheels and tires but I'm assuming he can't test fit them since he asked. That's the info I was given. I'm not sure the wheel width but would think a 6 or 7" wheel with a 225. I know that Weld Wheels are available with 3.5" bs but not sure if that's what...

    225/60R15 on a '65 vert?

A friend of mine was wondering if a 225/60R15 with a 3.5" backspace would fit on a '65 convertable without any mods. I'm fairly certain he would have no problem but not having that model myself I figured I'd ask you guys. Thanks for the help.

5 or 4 turn steering box?

I understand that on mid-67 and earlier cars the steering column needs to come out but on a '70 do I have to remove or mess with the column or can I just undo the rag joint? Also, I'm assuming I would have to remove the header but what about the z-bar? Thanks for the help!!

5 or 4 turn steering box?

I laughed when I saw you replied to this Dan since I'll be getting the box from you, haha. Good info, I am running 245/60 15s up front so maybe a 4 turn will be too hard to handle at low speeds and a rebuilt 5 turn will, I'm sure, be a huge improvement over my worn out box. Thanks for the...

5 or 4 turn steering box?

I have been dealing with a lot of play in my steering and have tried adjusting the box but I think it's just worn out. I'm thinking about buying another rebuilt manual box but was wondering if anybody could give me some insight as to whether it would be worth changing to a 4 turn box as opposed...

    Radiator with electric fan best?

I had a factory big block radiator in my '70 with a 289 and it ran cool as a cucumber. Then I got a leak in the radiator and ordered a 24" alum unit w/ twin 12" elec fans from the same company, I believe. The car runs nice and cool except in hot weather traffic. I think the fans don't pull as...

    Front suspension questions

I talked w/ the folks at Mustangs Plus about the poly strut bushings and they say that the difference is in how the washers are mounted. They say the washers are supposed to "cup" the rubber bushings giving the unit more stiffness but should be installed with the cup facing away from poly...

    Front suspension questions

So, I'm getting ready to do some front end work on my car and have a few questions. I'm going to drop my UCAs and install new strut rod bushings, then have a shop make and install sub frame connectors before doing an alignment. My questions are: 1) When I reinstall the control arms...

    69 Custom Console project

That's exactly what I was planning to doing to my dash. Painted the passenger side and wasn't impressed, haha. I'm going back to black whenever I get motivated to get things done in there. Good progress on the console!

    Wheel choices/ show your wheels

I'm running Weld Drag Lites. 15x7 front w/ 245/60-15 and 15x10 rear w/ 295/50-15. If I were to buy wheels now I would go with the Torque Thrusts or a Halibrand style but just in case you like this style. <img src="http://firstflightcruisers.com/gallery/files/3/6/pict0395__medium.jpg"...
