    my '86 vert had the same problem. Front and even more so the rear belts. Had an '85 cougar with the same problem. I now have a '98 escort... and guess what? Must be a Ford thing. Solved the problem in the stang with a 5 point Deist harness

    I see your reasoning here and agree 100%. I never thought about the view from the guy behind. I guess the main reason I asked was which method will wear out the brakes the quickest? A few short hard brakes or one long easy one.

    before you buy a new EVR solenoid... check it first to see if it's bad. here's a link Ford Fuel Injection EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) the only place i could find one was at latemodelrestoration at $ 55.00 plus $15.00 for shipping. Definitely use the copper plugs

    Get rid of the platinum plugs. Mustangs don't like them. You said you replaced the EGR valve. Might check the EVR solenoid. This helped my crappy gas mileage on my '86

    sounds to me that you have a bind in your throttle cable or maybe the cable itself is breaking inside the housing? (don't know if that's the right word). If you unhook the cable from the tb and push down on the accelerator pedal.... does it move freely?

    I've got a new job, and it's a good 60 mile one way commute in so. Cal gridlock. My ole faithful 86 gt vert has been my only mode of transportation for over 23+ yrs, and this new drive is just too much for her and myself. So I need to retire her, ( not get rid of ) and get me a 4 cyl economy...

    I candy... you haven't stated if you're car is a convertible. the trim pieces are quite different than a coupe. IDK but the year probably will make a difference. as stated above there was no screw on my 86 vert. it just clipped on to the door and is part of the weatherstripping.
