Tale of Sorrow (Damnitsyellow, I'd like your opinion)

Precisely. The only dealers around here that have any convertible I'd consider have all put add-ons on the car and won't take them off (Grody, Mills, Ford West). I'm not paying MSRP + 4995 for some no-name ghetto 20" wheels with cheap rubber on them. The one they had @ Grody had over 8k in...

Tale of Sorrow (Damnitsyellow, I'd like your opinion)

The savings for me will be $2680 on x-plan (difference in (price + sales tax)). I can afford MSRP...heck, I can afford the M3 but what can I say...I'm a cheap bastard. :p If I could find a WV blue convertible with 5-speed here in SoCal @ MSRP I could be persuaded to buy it. It doesn't exist...

Because I wanted to see the car, drive the car and see if they were any serious problems before I placed an order.

Tale of Sorrow (Damnitsyellow, I'd like your opinion)

Now that we've heard a story of joy, let me tell you a story of sorrow. I spoke with my rep today at the dealership here in SoCal I placed my X-plan order with for a GT convertible on 3/18. Priority=10 and I have a DORA and have been calling the IVRU every Friday. Originally, the rep told...

Does Dealer know anything more than Robot Lady does?

I ordered 3/18 (x-plan) priority=10 and I'm still C/U. I talked to my dealership yesterday and they were absolutely useless in providing information.

the real deal with recent GT orders

I don't think that's right. I believe that for the 2005s they're getting "deluxe" GTs and then working their magic...I gotta do some research.

Anyone Install A Hitch On Their Mustang?

Con- You must hang with the more destitute racers. :D The Porsche racer I know trailers his car and parts and pulls it all behind a Ford F-250! :rlaugh:

How perfect do you want it to be?

Hence the lower price tag compared to other vehicles. The Mustang has NEVER been advertised as a luxury ride. The seats have been crap for many, many years. The seats in my 97 GT were the absolute worst! If I drove the car more, I would have ripped them out and put some Recaros in there.

the real deal with recent GT orders

Bullet is right on. Ordering is a necessity for X-plan in SoCal. I ordered on 3/18 and I'm still C/U. The dealership told me 12 weeks for delivery. I don't believe it. Originally, I drove a BMW 330ci vert as my alternate. I liked the car...then I drove the M3...I've changed my alternate...

the real deal with recent GT orders

I certainly wouldn't pay the $14k+ premium for a Saleen that's mostly show and no go. I like the look of the Saleen but that's it. There are a couple of dealers here in SoCal who have several 281s as onsite inventory. They're not selling but Saleen certainly isn't having any problems getting...

Anyone Install A Hitch On Their Mustang?

Con- I'd suggest a Boxster, Audi 4 or a BMW 5 series as an alternate towing vehicle. They're very popular in Germany for pulling schnitzel carts. DO NOT turn your Mustang into a tow vehicle!

the real deal with recent GT orders

I can atest that Mustangs don't hold their value well. I sold my 1997 GT before I ordered my 2005 GT vert. The car had 70k on the odo and was in excellent condition (always garaged, regular maintenance, synthetic fluids, non-smoker). I had added a K&N CAI and custom wheels. It was white with...

Mtb- I just checked and GM is only offering a $1k incentive on th GTO. I thought they were up to $3500 cash back. Where do you live and where did you buy your GTO?

the real deal with recent GT orders

Good point. In 2007 when there really are 400k+ of the "new Mustang" on the road they'll lose a lot of their cachet. They'll be as common as a Honda Accord...common, very common. Present 2005 owners, enjoy the exclusivity while it lasts...because it won't.

    Opinion on color choice

Satin Silver with the red interior looks smokin' on the convertible. I almost got that color combo but I don't think I'll be as keen on red leather interior 3 years from now as I am today.

the real deal with recent GT orders

Thanks for the encouragement Yellow. I'm still hanging on (for now) but my patience does have a limit. Hell, I already ordered the personalized plates "SWFTPNY" for my GT vert and it looks like I'll have them before I get my car. If I go the alternate route (330ci or Corvette) then I'll have...

the real deal with recent GT orders

If it came in a convertible I would have checked it out already. The thought of driving a (GASP) GM product has never crossed my mind until now. The Corvette looks mighty appealing as an alternative to BMW if I don't get my GT vert soon.

    cancel or not

I hear you mtb. It's the MSRP+ price mentality that's going to drive me to the BMW dealer if Ford can't fill my order in a reasonable period of time. I've driven the 330Ci and it's a very nice car. The Mustang is my first option because I get X-plan pricing and I'm a Mustang guy at heart...

Dealer Update #2--I Have A Build Date!

Jennifer- I live in southern California. We don't have to worry too much about rust here. If the manufacturer is offering a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty against rust, you can be certain that on average the car will not rust for a reasonable amount of time beyond 5 years. They don't...
