    Which gears with my combo

My combo is similar and I run 3.55's. Going to 3.73's won't be a huge difference unless all you do is race and are looking for any way to cut your ET. BTW: How does that puppy idle with the E303?

    Problems after Intake install.

Some folks spray brake parts cleaner, but I don't know if its less volatile than the carb cleaner.

Got thru inspection and then the EEC throws a 543

I cut my base timing and fuel pressure back a bit and took the stang over to inspection. It passed easily and my emissions numbers were pretty good. Anyhow, I start heading back home and suddenly I've got what feels like a dead miss, but I couldn't understand why since I replaced the plugs and...

    Yet another Cam question.

That's a pretty big cam. It would be better suited for a big stroker. It will kill the low end in an otherwise mild 302.

    Problems after Intake install.

Yeah, I'd say put a vacuum gauge on there and check how many inches its pullin' and if it seems kinda low spray some carb cleaner around and see if the idle picks up.

Replacing the timing chain in a 95 5.0L

I admit that I didn't use the method of choice, but it worked in a pinch. FWIW installing a Romac was a major PITA!

Replacing the timing chain in a 95 5.0L

I use a breaker bar and crank the starter a little to loosen the balancer bolt.

Aode...does it have a vaccum modulator?

I had a friend with a '68 Caddie that had a bad vacuum modulator. Every time he let off the gas it was like a crop duster!

What goodies did the 94-95 Cobras come with?

I followed the link to the cobra specific thread, but I think there's a typo on the duration specs for the cam.

    Anybody use water wetter?

    After I installed a hi-flo water pump I waved bye-bye to W-W and 180 deg. thermostats.

Howling noise comming from rearend/driveshaft area.

I like to stick with the Ford gears because its easier to get the pinion depth and backlash correct.

    331 or 347

Some 347's had some oil control problems because the wrist pin bores actually intersected part of the oil control ring grooves in the pistons. I don't know if newer kits are better in this area, but that would be the only thing to deter me from opting for more cubes. Is the rod ratio better with...

    Coolant Color

FWIW water is actually a better coolant than anti-freeze, but it doesn't offer any protection from corrosion or boil over. It sounds like old pops let the coolant mix get out of whack and/or he never changed it. I'd flush the daylights out of that thing. I used to run a 180 deg. thermostat in my...

    T-5 fluid, what brand?

I put Amsoil ATF in my T5 and shifting got worse. The 1-2 shift has never been great, but now in cold weather I have to double clutch the 1-2 shift or it grinds like crazy. Once the engine warms up to operating temperature it gets better, but I've had a few sleepy-headed winter mornings where I...

Banging sound from rear of car

I'm getting some banging sounds from underneath my car. Sounds like a little elf is under the car banging on the floorpan with a hammer. I thought it might be a broken motor or trans mount or even the exhaust system, but its not. I have to bring it in to someone with a lift. I can't tell what it...

    pull dipstick = sucking noise

Is it recommended to have manifold vacuum at the oil fill tube? Mine just vents into the CAI.

    Thank you Hissin50 & cjones!!!

Bye-Bye codes! I routed some new vacuum lines and got a 111 on the KOER test. I still get a 511 on the KOEO test, but I seem to remember that the chip throws that code. Anyway, I took the l'il pony out for a spin and she's runnin' great! It was kinda doggy when the check engine light was coming...

    Trouble codes 311 & 314?

So the vacuum signal from the EVR solenoid should read between 2 - 5 inches? How much vacuum should be present from the TAB/TAD solenoids? I'm pretty convinced that I'm going to have to run all new hoses for the TAB/TAD and EGR which shouldn't be all that big a deal. I don't think my bypass...

    Codes: 314, 311 & 332

Well, I checked for vacuum at the EGR valve a few different ways. I tried the KOER method and got nothing. I tried without the code scanner and just operated the throttle manually and got nothing. The only time I got a reading (5 inches) was when I split the union of red, green & pink plastic...

    Trouble codes 311 & 314?

When I check for vacuum during KOER at the TAB/TAD valves I'm getting around 1 - 2 inches at the diverter and 1 - 2 inches at the bypass, but if I break the vacuum connection at the junction and supply a separate vacuum source I'm getting about 5 inches at the diverter and 13 inches at the...
