Leaning out in low rpm's - WHY??

Brakes are fine.. the only thing I can think of is maybe the lower didn't seat right. The heads are milled .040" so there was a pretty big gap at the end seals.. I used the cork gaskets that came with the set and a thick bead of rtv on either side. Seemed alright, and I've tried spraying carb...

Leaning out in low rpm's - WHY??

Thanks for the ideas.. yes the car still has an EGR valve, it's a Ford replacement and worked fine before the swap. So I guess I should be looking for a vacuum leak? I'll have to pick up a gauge I guess, I've just been tracing the vacuum lines everywhere and making sure they're all...

Leaning out in low rpm's - WHY??

Yes the MAF is calibrated for 19's, and worked fine with my stock injectors before the swap. Once the motor is out of the "bad zone" (idle to around 3k rpm), it drives fine and is very responsive. At the low end, even at part throttle you can feel it lacking power, and if you get on it it...

Leaning out in low rpm's - WHY??

Ok, here's the story. See the cardomain link in my sig for a full rundown of my setup. I recently did a H/I swap, and ever since my car has been hesitant, bucking, and sometimes backfiring (intake) at low rpms (until about 3k). It's somewhat inconsistant.. sometimes if you give it some gas...

    Unworking tach -

If you jack your car up you can follow the speedo cable from under the hood to the tranny, it's up towards the front on the driver's side. The only reasons your speedo won't physically move are A) cable is disconnected from one end, B) cable is bad or the drive/driven gear is stripped, or C)...

    Unworking tach -

You have to remove the panel below the steering wheel, the plastic surrounding the steering column, and the cluster shroud to get to it. It's like 10 screws, doesn't take long at all. You'll need a small torx bit and a phillips screwdriver.

    Unworking tach -

The speedo is mechanical.. check to make sure the speedo cable is hooked up to the tranny and to the back of the gauge, you'll have to pull the cluster out to do that.

    Ticking....Gets louder when warm

This would never happen to anyone but me, but.. I thought I had a bad lifter on two seperate occassions. The first time it turned out to be a loose spark plug. Recently after my H/I swap it started up again. I didn't have a vacuum line going from my afpr to the manifold (I had the manifold...

    h pipe

I have to admit my equal length shorties and offroad h setup definately sounded a bit deeper at idle and cruise, but the longtubes and prochamber definately make more power and sound pretty scary under heavy throttle. I would just keep the prochamber, you may lose some power going with an h pipe.

AFPR -- vacuum line?? And fuel pressure adjustment question

Sorry, I'm a moron. I just dug up a manual for the regulator online, and apparently the adjustment screw IS the vacuum line (there's a small hole in the head of the screw, duh).. I just hooked a line up from the regulator to the upper manifold and took it for a spin. It hasn't solved...

AFPR -- vacuum line?? And fuel pressure adjustment question

Ever since putting my crane AFPR on my car it's been giving me problems in the lower rpm's (hesitation, missing). I'm pretty sure the real problem is my TFI module (going to replace that soon), but I've been searching through threads on fuel pressure adjustment and I've noticed everyone...

Ignition issues - worth upgrading to MSD?

The plugs are autolite 24's (not platinum), I have them sidegapped to .055" still from the stock heads. I know the powerheads are milled .040", so I'm not sure what my compression is now. I'll throw some new ones in and gap them a little smaller and see what happens. Just wondering if a...

Ignition issues - worth upgrading to MSD?

See my sig or garage for my info on my setup.. The car has a miss around 1900rpm, and feels hesitant/unresponsive until about 2500rpm. Once it hits 2500 or so it wakes up suddenly and pulls like crazy up to 6k or so. I've tried a different MAS, TPS is fine, EGR/IAB work, wires are good, no...

Walk me through installing these MAC LT's, please

When I installed mine I just had to unbolt the motor mounts and jack the engine up a bit. They slid right in from under the car (on a lift).. didn't have to remove the starter or do anything else.

    55mm to a 70mm Mass air meter

The original cobra mas's were calibrated for 19# injectors, and the computer compensated for the 24's that were in the car. It should work with your 19's, I know someone doing this with no problem. Did you remember to reset the computer after you swapped the meters? Disconnect the - battery...

    Header gaskets....

Piece of cake, just grab a 7/16" wrench and go at it. You may need a socket and swivel adapter to get to some of them if you have aftermarket headers. Remove all the bolts except the two on the far ends. Most gaskets have slots in them so you can slip them up and out without removing the last...

Need help, lower intake will not line up with heads??

Sounds like those heads must have been milled pretty drastically. I just dropped a set of Powerheads (which are milled .040") on my car, and my gt40 lower bolted right on. The end gaps were pretty big though. I ended up using the cork gaskets and a bunch of rtv (sort of made a sandwich)...

H/I install troubleshooting.. fuel delivery issue?

Bump.. Grounds are good, firing order is correct, don't have a vacuum gauge but I've done the carb spray test in a bunch of places and haven't found a leak. It idles fine but seems like it might be missing under load until around 2800-3000rpm and takes off like a bat out of hell after that...
