P/S fluid smells burnt, pump is squealing

Any tricks to flushing it? Is there a bleed valve/drain somewhere? (never done this before) If it does seem to be broken, I may use it as opportunity to just toss the P/S (never really liked it, looks bad, leaks, don't like the steering feel and eats power to boot). I have asked this...

P/S fluid smells burnt, pump is squealing

Its been getting worse for a while... now its to the point where it squeals even at a minor turn at slow speed/stop. The fluid is full (which is somehwat surprising considering it has always leaked like mad but for some reason it seems to be holding it better now). Anyway, whats likely...

Crushed oil filter trying to remove it... how to get it out

Nah, it sounds like it'll work. I'll take a look at the other filters I have to get an idea and probably stab it 2/3-3/4 the way out so as not to hit the block's mount.

Crushed oil filter trying to remove it... how to get it out

Pretty fat screwdriver I'm assuming? Should I try to 'hit' anything (or make sure the screwdriver hits a specific spot) within the filter so that it gets enough 'grip'?

Crushed oil filter trying to remove it... how to get it out

Is this serious? I could almost see it working... If you're joking tell me now, I'll admit you got me good, and save me the mess I'm going to make in a few hours when I go home :)

Crushed oil filter trying to remove it... how to get it out

Dumb mistake by me last night... tried to do an oil change on my 66/351w last night... I've done probably 25 oil changes on this and other cars and its never happened to me. Not sure whether the oil filter wrench I got was cheap, whether I was doing something wrong, or whether the filter was on...

    1966 351 swap exhaust manifold

I have the Heddman swap headers. They're great for the price... definitely offer better exhaust flow (you can tell from the sond), better sound (deeper), and they fit well.

are the 351/400M motors any good?

Its a 400 cubic inch motor. So obviously, with some basic work, it'll move your truck just fine. If its in running condition as it sits, as others have pointed out, an intake/exhaust/cam could easily make it suitable power wise. But its heavy, needs a different transmission, will probably...

How much sound deadening (dynamat etc) is needed?

Not a bad idea. If they don't really destroy me on the price the time I'd save might be worth it. Also gotta find a source for the closed cell foam, it seems that most people highly recommend that stuff too...

    351W Stroker; 393 vs 408

393 sounds cooler :) And if you do it yourself you can save yourself a few pennies here and there since it uses off the shelf sized 302 pistons and 351w rods. hipo p51 - the 351w is a bit wider and taller but there are very few fitment issues, even in a 65/66. It also reuses damn near...

Anyone planning on dropping the new 5.0 into a classic?

If you hadn't heard, its recently become official that they're dropping a 412 hp, 5.0 DOHC/4V motor into Mustang GTs starting in 2011. Not sure how much (if at all) the block is different than current DOHCs, but it'd seem a natural choice for some Boss 302 restomods. Anyone? (hopefully I'm...

How much sound deadening (dynamat etc) is needed?

I have a 66' coupe... I have a nice stereo to stick into it, and just purchased the front speakers/kick panels and now have all the components I need except wires and insulation. (refer to this thread...

Blueprint crate engines from Summit/Blueprint? 347/425hp/410tq for $5k-6k

Summit's never steered me wrong, so I'd be willing to give it a shot if I were looking for a 347. They carry any 393/408 short blocks? :)

So someone decided to copy our idea for an E-brake handle

Should I just PM you? I could be missing something (work internet doesn't load the pages right I think) but I don't see an online store/item to buy directly and a few people seem to be PMing you in that thread with their interest. Whatever works, not trying to be a bother. Any way you could...

So someone decided to copy our idea for an E-brake handle

is there a link where I can take a look at these and buy one? I need a more durable handle but want to retain the stock parking brake setup... just don't want it breaking every few years as its been doing.

    Inexpensive (relatively) radiator options?

I've determined that my radiator (an 'enhanced' 2-core from NPD thats supposed to perform somewhat better than stock) is a steaming piece of crap. Its a year and a half old and has cracked all along the top, and now that I have the heads/cam/etc build it appears simply incapable of getting rid...

Anyone make a more durable parking brake handle?

I have gone through 3-4 NPD plastic handles in the 7 or 8 years I've had this car, and its getting tiresome replacing them every time I snap a handle off. Does anyone make a stronger handle? If not, does anyone have a fairly easy method for making one?
