    Sound system questions

Can't see the photo at the moment, I'll check it out at home though. I think my idea of sticking them behind the rear seat by cutting a hole in that metal sheet will work pretty well. Also gonna check out the raamaudio page. Good stuff.

    Sound system questions

Battery-wise I swapped out my old, 480 CCA battery for the one that was in the Caddy... that one is brand-new, worked fine with the system in the Caddy and pulls 900/1000 CCA, etc (Duralast Gold or something, it was a $140 battery). I think it'll work. I'll check out soundskin.com. So long...

    Sound system questions

So, I just got rid of my Cadillac and tore the system I had in it out, except for the front speakers and wiring harness which I didn't have time to get at and figured I might not have been able to use anyway. The system includes a Pioneer HUD, a Kenwood 800W amp for the speakers which include...

New Focus (and other Ford car) question re: Sync

How hard is it to, while retaining Sync functionality, upgrade the stereo system in a new Focus (I would assume this question applies to all other new Fords with Sync as well)? Does it require keeping the stock head unit? I'm going to be getting rid of my Caddy and probably getting a Focus...

    Throwout bearing starting to squeal...

My throwout bearing is making a little squeal just about every time I push the clutch. Just noticed it yeseterday when I took my uncle out in the car. Is there anything I can do (adjusting clutch perhaps) that can alleviate this, at least temporarily? I know my clutch needs to be adjusted...

    69 w/ 429 CJS HELP!!!!

Verify that you have a C6 auto, a 9" rear, and the proper radiator for a 429/460. Not sure if 302s and big blocks had different radiators but i know you're gonna want the big block version if there is one. If you have all of that, it should have no problem with a stock/mild 429/460. In...

Dumb question - removing alt belt for dyno?

************* says you can probably pick up some power on the dyno by disconnecting the power steering and alternator belts. The P/S is obviously not a big deal, but I was wondering if about the alternator. My head says that, for the purposes of a dyno run or two, you could run no alternator...

    69 w/ 429 CJS HELP!!!!

Boss 429 was a 385-series block (with different heads, still a 385 though) right? To the OP, the nice thing is there isn't going to be much in the way of 'bad news' that can come from the search into what you've got. 429 or 460, you're still looking at a beast. :)

    '64 project

You have a short. My friend and I just dealt with a very similar issue and the culprit was the alternator. First clue was that the terminal that accepted the red wire from the starter was smoking. Turns out there was an internal short at the alternator. When we took it to pep boys they...

Grenadas... how to tell what year?

My front disc pads are in need of replacement. I have a grenada disc setup but we aren't sure what year they came off of... is there a way to tell? Does it matter? If not... what year grenada pads should I be looking for (77 or something i'd guess)? Thanks

API 'SM' Oil - no zinc... don't use in old engines?

anyone got a summary of what the hierarchy of oil API ratings are? my motorcycle also requires a certain grade and i want to make sure I get it right, but a lot of the time they just give a 'minimum' grade (which means nothing to me)... so I don't know what other oils may work and which ones...

    New Suspension... RUBS!

I think its the 245s, those are big for the front. I've seen them work on the rear in person, but never on the front. If the rubbing isn't too bad, rolling the fenders might do the trick (i did, helped a lot for me). Rolling should definitely be step 1, everything else is more work and more...

    1970 Coupe help?

fordsix is a really interesting site, pretty amazing what some of them get out of those 200 cid I6s. that site will point you towards aftermarket intake, bigger carb, and exhaust options. cheap(er) modifications that could help drivability, etc. though i would not go much farther than...

Quick auto to manual question (tried search)

I'll try to get a pic when I get home. I need some heat shield wrap like is shown above (as I said, the cable is cooking a bit), but it looks identical to v8only's setup except it ducks into the shock tower roughly next to the #5 cylinder's exhaust port. If you look at his picture theres a...

Quick auto to manual question (tried search)

The shorter cable will work. I have a fox body length cable and simply routed it into the shock tower. Looks a little cleaner, though the headers did cook it a bit (but it still works and isn't going anywhere).
