got a blower. do i need forged internals?

Yup, I just found out the hard way. I'm shopping for a good forged long block setup now =( I used mine for open track so I guess being at WOT for long periods of time wasn't too good for the stock block.

Blew #4 cylinder, need opinions on Short block

Looks like my #4 cylinder busted during an open track session. This was confirmed by a compression test by my shop. So it looks like I'll be needing a new block. After doing a little bit of research, since money is also an issue, I had my eye on the: DSS Pro Modular 5.0 Stroker short...

    anyone in NorCal?

Thanks a lot st5150, you JINXED ME!! hehe jk. My #4 cylinder went south after my last HPDE :( Not really sure how it happened. All I know is that the piston hit the spark plug causing it to touch the electrode and breaking a part of it. It was my 3rd run of the day close to the end of it...

Going to be putting a PI engine in my 98

If you're going to do the valve springs, you might as well wait till you can afford some cams so it can be done the same time while the engine is out. I don't think the springs alone will do much for you.

PI headswap first start....BIG PROBLEM HELP!!

Don't overlook the intake gasket. When ford replaced my intake (TSB) they didn't change the intake gasket or installed it wrong and coolant leaked into one of the cylinders and after less than a day of driving... Kaboom. needed a new engine.

Help with new k&n fipk problem

I didn't experience any of that with my K&N FIPKII kit. I know you've checked everything already but go over all the Vacuum hoses again. Mine did exactly what yours did when one of the hoses(near the oil fill cap) was loose.

I just got a MAC blue hose adapter that fits the air tube perfectly to the Lightning MAF, it was around $20ish directly from MAC. I guess I'm doing alright then with my FRP eaton at 336 RWHP at 6psi. BTW can anyone tell me for sure if I have a M90 or M112. The guys at modular depot swears...

    Tire Pressure For The Track

If you're talking about an open track event, you will have to monitor your tires after a session once the tire temp is up. Then you need to check to see that you are using all your tread ( you can use chalk on the sidewalls or just eye it ) Every brand of tire is a little different also. I...

Anyone know what kind of numbers the 6lb Kenne Bell kits are putting out on the dyno?

    anyone in NorCal?

I didn't get it retuned, Apex said to go ahead and wait until I get the smaller pulley. Why is running the blower at the track a bad combo? I figure if you have a good tune, it should be safe and fine. I also figured the Snow Performance boost cooler would also help it from any detonation...

    anyone in NorCal?

it's an open track HPDE event through www.nasaproracing.com If you guys haven't tried it yet, you should go at least once. It's a damn good time. Four 20 minute track sessions throughout the day. I would like to hit searspoint for the 1/4 before the season ends if it hasn't already ended.

    anyone in NorCal?

Apex ran into a problem with the smaller pulley I gave them so they still have my car(not their fault). =( Since I have a track day at Thunderhill on Saturday, I am having them retune it with the boost cooler without the smaller pulley. I should have some numbers by Friday when I pick up the...

    High-mileage 94-98 4.6s...

I'd go for it. My engine was running strong at 190K miles before I did a PI swap. Now I have a PI engine with a blower and though the transmission isn't perfect. It still works fine with all the extra torque and HP.

    anyone in NorCal?

Find out how familiar are they with tuning stangs? Almost every car Apex dyno tunes are Stangs and lightnings, fox bodies and modulars. Pricing sounds about the same. My car will be there tomorrow and Friday getting retuned after they install a smaller pulley and boost cooler.

    anyone in NorCal?

Apex in Santa Clara raised their prices right before my dynotune :( It was something in the upper one hundred range for an hour I think. Plus if you need to get the SCT chip, it's like $300 so figure 1 - 2 hours for tuning depending on what you want done. Ed the guy that does the tunes...

    Snow Boost Cooler????

It is now my weekend car, but I still drive it to work every now and then. I wouldn't have a problem using it as a daily driver except for the fact that the gas mileage is considerably worse with the blower if you do a lot of city driving.
