    X-Pipe hp gain question?

Most manufacturers state there is no difference in HP from catted to non-catted X pipes. The hi-flow cats seem to be very efficient. FWIW, I read an article in a Mustang Mag from a Ford Exhaust Engineer and he stated that hollowed out cats were a bad idea for performance since it screwed up...

    PI Intake Progress

I'm not surprised the gasket and vacuum line were what were causing headaches. These 4.6's are real finicky if they are not asssembled perfectly. You should learn to use a torque wrench and look up the torque numbers in the owner's manual. BTW, how do you like the new power curve? How about...

When do gears lose their advantage?

It's all related to the type of engine and cams that you have and the type of driving you do. If you have a low-rpm, high torque engine (stockish 5.0) then 3.27 may be okay for a DD. A DOHC, 4.6 (Cobra, Mach 1) high-rpm, high HP engine will do better with 4.10's. Gears alone will not make...

    PI Intake Progress

You said you broke off one of the manifold bolts. Did you replace the broken bolt and did you torque the bolts in sequence per owner's manual? Also, check the #3 cylinder wire since it may be bad.

Will PI cams help a NPI car?

:Word: I also think it is worth the time and money if you use a cam tool. It's a nice performance gain with the PI intake which you can install later. BTW, get some 3.73 gears to take advantage of the higher rpm's and you will be good to go. The stock tune will work until you get to a...

Bassani is top of the line, your customer will love it. Let us know what you think of it.

    Bassani Exhaust?

Bassani catted X sounds great, very mellow but at WOT they sound exotic and mean. Also "smooths out" the torque curve with no low-end loss of power. I love mine.

    Electric Fuel Pressure

There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail that you replace with an adapter and the sender unit. At least that is the way my fuel pressure sensor works. The schrader valve is on the driver's side of the fuel rail towards the front and it looks like an air stem. Auto Meter sells the adapter...

need some advice for big mod...

If you are only 17 and prolly on a budget, I recommend PI cams and the PI intake. Some used PI cams will cost about $75.00 which is a lot cheaper than $500+ for aftermarket cams. Not a bad price for about 20-25 horses with the intake. The cams can be quickly installed (one weekend) if you...

Help with an interceptor 4.6 please

Do a compression test. Both banks should be within 10% of each other. If you spot a weak cylinder, drop a bit of oil (to temporarily seal the rings) and then re-check compression. If the compression goes up; bad rings. You could also have a burnt valve so if the oil trick doesn't work, it...

Cobra Cluster Swap Question Please Help!!

I bet your sender units are different for a Cobra and a GT. Try a Cobra temperature sender unit on your GT.

    Might be in a '98

Go with 3.73 if you plan on going PI. I went with 3.55 gears and they worked okay with the NPI cams but the PI cams moved the torque curve to a higher rpm range. I drive a lot on the highway so they are fine with me. Regardless, some better gears are a must. The best bang for the buck are...

    gauges

I don't know why you would want a water temp gauge since the stang has a crappy one. The vacuum gauge however is to be used for reading boost and/or engine efficiency.

    I'm sad...

Good luck over there. If you will have that much money to dump into a car at once, get a supercharger (Kenne Belle or Vortech). The bolt-ons won't compare and you'll have less hassles. The only other thing you should get are sub-frame connectors and gears. FWIW, I know you'll miss your...

Need some help ASAP on steering

If your column was tampered with, you may have affected the PATS. Does your key have a chip? You cannot go to a push button ignition since without a chipped key, the engine will momentarly start but it won't run. The rest of the wiring I have no idea.

Bassani makes an awesome X-pipe. It fits and seals perfect and it works even better. Very high quality, I'm happy with mine.

    Just installed Bassani Catted X

I bought a used Bassani catted-X from another Stangnetter, and had a shop install it since it looked like a PITA. I was very impressed with the quality and fit of the Bassani X-pipe. For example, the X-pipe has threaded mounts for BOTH pairs of O2 sensors. No pesky mil-eliminators needed...

    Moving to Northern Cali

Welcome to Cali. Your car will need to be smogged. You will need cats to pass the "sniffer" test. If your stang came stock with fuel injection you will need to have it since a carb will render it un-smoggable. You will also need to have all the factory smog equipment or it won't pass...
