I just put in my autometer voltmeter and used the ground and the one prong for the keyed switch, ran a wire off the keyed switch to a fuse in the fuse box, and my voltmeter works fine.
I had the same problem, tried the sending unit, and my gauge still read low, so i bought an autometer gauge, and have a normal reading with the rise on acceleration. my stock gauge was wacked out.
My BBk CAI hits the shock tower as well, I would think that you are going to have to modify the CAI becuase it sounds like you have the wrong model. If nothing else sell it and get the one you need.

you dont get rid of the inner door handles, it gets rid of the outer door handles, and has a remote that unlocks and pops the door. There is also a hidden button, so that if the battery dies in your remote, it will open the door.
