    running water instead of antifreeze

Runnig water alone will rust internals in your engine. You could be setting yourself up for freeze plug or water pump problems. Make sure you have some sort of anti-corrosive mixed with the water or you will be in trouble down the road

Air tools for the body work...

You can't beat that deal for $90. Trust me, unless you have a 60-80 gallon compressor, no compressor you buy with a 30 gallon tank or smaller, no matter what hp the motor is, will keep up with an air grinder, cut-off wheel or any other tool that uses a constant flow of air. It will be just...

    Will this welder work?

85 amp 115v will work for sheetmetal, but if you could get a 110 amp it would be better. I use an 85 amp and it struggles sometimes. It still works, but you just have to play with the settings a little more often and be a little more patient.

    Will this welder work?

If the welder is in your price range it will probably do for sporatic work. 15% duty cycle means you can weld for 1.5 minutes then let it rest for 10 minutes. If it has a warranty, why not try it out and see if it welds scrap metal ok. If so, theres your answer. If not, return it. Remember...

Air tools for the body work...

5.1 scfm at 90 psi is probably a misprint. I bet its more like 4 scfm at 90 psi. I have a 5 hp belt driven compressor with a 30 gal tank that runs constant when using a cutoff tool or grinder and it is has 10scfm at 90 psi. The air volume with a tank that size will be good, but if you run...

    body work price questions

I have known the guy for about 10 years... He does good work.. problem is finding a shop that wants to touch it. If its not a quick patch and paint job not one wants to do it. He's ready to start on it right away and I figured I'd let him do a few of the repairs and see how long it takes and...

    body work price questions

I had a guy quote me $40/hour to do bodywork on my 67 fb. It needs floors, 2 new rear quarters and 2 door skins. He said the floors will take between 10-20 hrs, he can do both door skins in 8 hrs and each quarter in 8 hours. Does this sound reasonable? He works for a shop during the day and...

I would just make sure that all exposed moving components are coated with oil then cover it with plastic so that no air/moisture can get to it.

    Fan Shroud Question?

Is this an A/C car? I think that the AC cars used a 24" radiator and a 17 inch fan. I just bought a 15" fan from Summit and it fixed my problem.

    Best Rust Remover????

I am sandblasting one panel at a time in the engine bay and using eastwood's rust converter then top coating with rust encapsulator. So many choices you just have to figure out which system you can afford and have the time to do then just go for it..

67 fb cowl removed, not so bad..

Its a time consuming job. You have to take your front fenders off as well. You then drill out all the spot welds.. something like 150 or so of them. If you have the time and patience you can save yourself alot of money doing this job... I am getting ready to cut my rusted areas out today to...

67 fb cowl removed, not so bad..

I got my new patch panels today. Is it better to replace the entire piece or just whats rusted? Seems like it would be easier to cut the old cowl out in a straight line like the new replacements and but weld in...

67 fb cowl removed, not so bad..

Actually I was looking for a metal hat to weld in. Seems like I could just drill out the spot welds on the old hat and replace with a new one, since the pan is not rusted. Does anyone know what guage metal the hats are. I might try to make them.. thx,....

67 fb cowl removed, not so bad..

Its a little worse than I thought.. Now that I have blasted the lower cowl panels, the cowl "hats", the part that sticks up, have pin holes in them. Should I use my eastwood rust encapsulator and then use a seam sealer or bondo to fill the holes or can you buy just the "hat" part of the cowl...

67 fb cowl removed, not so bad..

I just removed my cowl and I am pleased that I do not have any rust through. This is a North Carolina car. I am going to blast, use eastwood's rust converter, prime and then paint. I was expecting a whole lot worse!!! I hope my attachment works...

engine removal, where to hook chain?

I bought a $20 load leveler from Harbor Freight tools and hooked it to the 4 corners. Used my 1000lb electric winch hooked to a metal bar across the rafters and it came right out. I also supported the metal bar on both ends using pressure treated 2x4's running from the rafters to the floor...
