    Okay, Pilot shaft bearing. One side has a small blue seal in it. Should this seal face the transmission, or the engine?

    Not to be an ass, but what kind of leverage where you working with? The ole torque wrench can work wonders when no leverage is to be had otherwise. I'm sure you had enough, but I figured I'd offer, since this saved my ass a couple times lastnight.

    I'm not a fan of the yellow at all, but I love the body accents. I don't see anything rice about it :shrug: Guess we all have our opinions.     omg that is soo much easier than what I did. Lacking a pump, I always made a long hose and ran it from the engine bay to the fill hole and let the fluid drain in. It shouldn't move at all, but if it moves left and right, that's your ball joint, if it moves up and down, it's the wheel bearings.     An older jetta once burned out an amp I was giving this guy. It was working in my car when we unhooked it, we hooked it to his car and it did nothing. Then we hooked it to mine again and it caught fire. Becareful with stereo systems in the jetta.

    Start the car, let it sit in nuetral. release the clutch. If you hear the sound now, it's the throw out bearing making contact with the fingers when it isn't supposed to. If you hear it when the cluth is depressed, it's the bearing itself. At least that is my understanding of it.
