Ok so this is my g/fs car and the battery was in horrible condition along with the terminals.
I told her to wait til I was off work to get a battery, but she didnt and went to autozone to have the battery replaced.

Before the battery was replaced she was having trouble starting it and the car dying on her right after start up. But then it started up and ran long enough for her to drive into town to get the battery swapped. It died on her again after leaving autozone and having the guy install the new battery.
So she got out and wiggled the terminal, got it to start up and drove home.
I replaced the terminals for her today and now the car wont start AT ALL.

It cranks great but it just wont start up what so ever. Not even a slight sign of it starting up.

I checked the fuel pump switch in the back and it is pressed down. I forget if thats where it needs to be or not?

Can anyone help me on where I should start for diagnosing this problem.

But this is the 1st time the battery has been disconnected and re connected.

Just doesnt make sense to me, and IM pretty familiar with stangs

The switch in the rear is the inertia switch to cut the fuel pump in case of an accident. If it was pushed to cut the pump off, the car wouldn't have been running at all.

When you turn the key to the on position, but don't start it, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

If it is turning over, and you give it some gas does it catch or sputter at all?

Well the switch is pushed down right now so if that cuts it off, how do I get it to pop back up?

Also I just went out and turned the key on and Im PRETTY sure there is no fuel pump noise as they usually have a noticable sound to them correct?

It does not catch or sputter at all it just cranks over and over.

Which one is the fuel pump fuse? Ive checked all the fuses under the hood but not sure how to check the boxed fuses. Arent they called relays?

If anyone has a link to a owners manual thatd be great. We didnt get one with the car

sounds like it probably needs a fuel pump. have the girlfriend crank the car and spray starting fluid or carb cleaner into the intake at the throttle body holding it open a bit. if it starts ur not getting fuel.

Ill give this a shot tomorrow, hopefully we can get it going she has a interview on wednesday.

How do I check to make sure the pump is getting power? And how do I check the PCM to make sure its not fried?

ok another test I did

I made sure the spark plugs were sparking and they are. Would that eliminate a bad PCM?

Check ur fuel pump.. . Thats most likely ur culprit. If u have power to crank, ur getting spark, the only things missing are air and fuel. UR more than likely getting air so Ur only missing fuel. Do the spray test and let us know the results.

For the switch, I think mine is pushed in a little bit also. It won't hurt to try it and see if it changes anything. I doubt it will, as it really didn't have a reason to trigger, but go ahead and see. If there is no change, make sure you press it again to reset it.

Yes, the pump will make a noise when it is turned on. It's not always loud, but it is not hard to hear.

As far as the theft system... the car has a PATS setup (Passive Anti Theft) and if something goes wrong with it, it will cause the car to not start.

2 things. 1 have you tryed banging on gas tank?not always but some pumps just before quitting get stuck. 2 ~ when you checked fuses did u use a test lite and check both sides. 3~ my car i also changed terminals too, neg had 2 wires and pos had 3. With a test lite or meter , is thier power at switch in trunk?im looking at wire diagram now.im no rocket scientist ,when key comes on it sends a signal somewhere. The fuse to relay is hot at all times.maybe someone can help,i see on fpdm a 10 pin connector.pin 1 fuel pump control signal.pin 3 fuel pump neg. Pin 10 fuel pump pos.pin 9 fuel pump power. Pin 9 is from relay.than i see fuse 2 in central junction box feed ccmr.

Its been way too cold to get any further. I did check both sides of fuses but will do it again sometime this week.
I did check power from the fuse relay switch in the trunk and I found 1 wire that had power going to it but that was it.
I see a wire harness plugged in and wires running into the gas tank. Is this my wires for the fuel pump?
If so which one is power? Im going to send direct power to it and see if it kicks.
