imo its not worth it to swap if your engine is running fine.

For all the work involved in swapping engines, I'd instead recommend finding a Mark VIII engine (can be found for around $300). The pistons on the Mark VIII engine only had a 3 cc dish, and you'd have over 11:1 compression with PI heads. That would make for a nasty N/A combo. If you really felt like going all out, you could remove the pistons and have valve reliefs cut into them. That way you'd be able to run an aggressive cam and not worry about PTV contact. The other added benefit of course would be the weight reduction. IIRC the Mark VIII engine weighs roughly 65lbs less than the iron 4.6 block.

That is a pretty good deal... why does your friend want to change engine blocks? How well do you know this guy?

I'll play devil's advocate. Suppose this guy gets your car together, you fire it up and BAM PTV contact resulting in damage to your heads. Or suppose something is missed upon reassembly while installing the engine. Is this guy willing to fix it after the fact? Are you planning on being there to assist?

The reason I ask is I am already hesitant to take my car to a dealership or to a local shop even when I know the management or the staff working on the cars. Reason being I don't really trust anyone else to work on my car. Perhaps I'm paranoid, but at least if you had the work done at a reputable shop or dealership you could rest easy knowing they stand behind their work. If this guy is doing this for you on the side and something goes wrong do you have the funds available to pay for it to be corrected if he is unwilling to do so? Somethings you should think about before going forward IMO.

Perhaps you could talk to him and iron out all of these details first. Develop some kind of agreement together, ideally in writing, so that if something did go wrong he'd be obligated to fix it.

Well with those cams and the increased c.r. That 2v is hovering at the 300 rwhp mark which is awesome for these cars. I would do it if it were me
