03 cobra question

I have my K&N FIPK and my x pipe I am installing for now and I wanted to know if I need to tune the car at this stage. A few months down the road I am going to upgrade the blower pulley and plan to tune it then. So I am asking if it would be alright to put on intake and mid pipe without a tune. Some guy at work was saying not to put on anything until I get my tuner, Just wondering. Any assistance is appreciated.

you should be safe with just those 2 mods. Like already stated, after the pulley goes on, you will def. need a tune. Also, just so you know, even a bone stock Cobra will benefit from a tune, so if you have the $$ and want to unlock some power, by all means go for it.

These cars come decently rich from the factory and will generally not lean out enough from just a CAI and Exhaust. It would be very wise of you to go to a reputable dyno that services their A/F meter on a regualr basis to ensure an accurate read and get the A/F checked out. If you take the time to get a programmer, do not use the canned tunes that are already on the programmer. Buy it from a knowledgeable tuning company. Scott @ Mile High is one of the best on the country for mail order tunes. He can send you a programmer with your custom tune already loaded onto it. I'll put his link below.

Dan & Razors edge have already answered and I concur with both. No need for a re-tune for just a CAI & mid-pipe. I am curious though as to why you decided to go with a mid-pipe first vs a cat-back? You will see some gains from a free flowing mid-pipe, but there's a bigger benefit to be had by replacing the stock cat-back.

Once you do get a pulley... a good deal on an XCal2 or Predator and expert mail order tunes can also be had from Ed & James at RWTD.

In one of his other threads I think he mentioned he had a Magnaflow catback already......

Well if that's true my bad... at the same time that can be misleading. I was assuming the car was still bone stock and these were his very first mods. Not that the addition of a cat-back into the mix is going to change our answers in this scenario... but if already has a cat-back installed a custom tune is going to make an even bigger difference in the overall performance!

James is a great tuner and friend. He did several tunes for me before I started doing dyno tuning.

Thats what I will do then I already have magnaflow catback. I am also going to get a predator tuner and get a custom tune thanks for you help guys

Check into the XCal2 handheld tuner also. They are more flexible than the Predator and are being recommended by the professional tuners more so than the Diablosport offering.

If you are big into datalogging then the XCal2 is your friend. It has alot more parameters for you to monitor than the predator. But if you don't care to datalog then either one(XCal2 or Predator) will be fine. Other than that difference, they are the same thing. As far as custom tuning goes, they use the same parameters and tune just as well as the other. Any tuner who knows what they are doing will tell you this.

James from RWTD stated the software used to create custom tunes for use in the XCal2 was slightly better than the Predator because it allowed for changes which were not possible with the Diablosport software (Revolution software maybe?).
