Hi everybody.

My name is Jacoby and I am looking to pick up an 03 cobra in the next few months. I currently own a 2003 20th AE GTI but it is much too slow for my needs.

I was wondering what complaints you have about the car and how reliable the car is.

I am planning on drag racing the hell out of it so I would appreciate info on axle strength and how they hold up to added power and drag radials. My current car is notorious for having weak axles and transmission and I want to avoid a car with the same problems.

I have no complaints about my car many others will say different . Some complain about the rear end clunk , pull to the right , head tick , vibration above 80mph and many other things . Yes mine has the tick , yes mine pulls to the right and yes mine vibrates above 80mph only for a brief moment . But hell I bought a Ford not a BMW or Mercedes and plus the beating I put on my car I expect much worse . Buy the car and have fun with it . And every time I hear the s/c scream I know I bought the right car .

I've made several 4500+ rpm launches on ET Streets with the stock half shafts and clutch and nothing broke yet . I have over 80 passes on drag radials so far and no broken half shafts . As long as it doesn't wheel hop you are fine , if it starts hopping just lift .

Sup Jacoby!!!

I've had an '03 driver tell me about that axle hop that Electric was talking about. It's because the cobras are indepentent rear suspension. Great for auto-x but who really does auto-x that much in their cobra? You can do a solid axle swap to fix it.

As far as the clunky rear end...that's one thing I made sure to ask this '03 guy I talked to...he said the cobra had it, and I was VERY disappointed. I have the same thing in my GT and I absolutely CANNOT STAND IT. It makes the car sound like a piece of crap at during low speed shifting and stop-and-go. But you can fix that with a gear--just have the shop set the rear end on the tight side when you put 3.73's or 4.10's in the back of it.

Nice to see you around man!
